  3. Interesting. It's already dirt cheap when you subscribe compared to store prices. $10 a copy DELIVERED as opposed to $12.95 PLUS tax, PLUS gas to get to the store.

are they delivered in an envelope or some other means to keep it "minty"? legit question, no sarcasm, I've only gotten it at Barnes.

  6. A stiff "Priority" type envelope. No ****ups in almost 2 years. Also, subscribers get a pretty cool poster once a year. Pretty good deal for $40

Nope... TRJ is not an Alliance Vendor... They do support us a great deal though.

I've had a subscription to TRJ for a few years now.

At first, I thought, "this cover price is really steep."

But I've basically stopped buying other car magazines because TRJ is so good.

    You won't regret it.

Not to mention that they haven't had a rate increase since I got the first issue, even though the size of the book (# of pages) has nearly doubled Can't say that about too many other subscriptions....:)

I'd like to subscribe, but our mail delivery would completely destroy it. Outstanding magazine, my favorite.

Guys up here in Canada it's over $20. Cover price says $12.95 us but they started charging $19.95 when our dollar was only worth 60cents on the US dollar, hopefully they will change this now that it's over 90 cents.Hop Up stayed at $12.95us therefore stayed under $15 can:rolleyes:Still worth every cent, haven't missed one yet.

It arrives delivered in a thick cardboard envelope.

And it is protected by magical unicorns.

Stop making excuses and subscribe. You only get one life. Might as well be happy.

  13. Alliance Vendor or not, the RJ is still the greatest car magazine ever printed.

The amount of money they spend producing the mag, doesn't allow for many discounts or promos. Hell, I'm in the latest issue, and I only got one free copy. But hell, if I had to personally fly to china to oversee the printing of every issue, I wouldn't give any away either. LoL

Buy a suscription, It'll make your year.

My two cents... Valid question and I understand wanting to save money (more cash for parts!) but this is one publication I would pay more for. A cheap *** "hot rod" book that is the same size would cost you $35-40 bucks at Barnes & Noble. So additional discount, technically no, but compared to its value... one hell of a deal!!!

Hell, the cover price is cheap considering what they are bringing on eBay...

    -------------

In my opinion, TRJ is the best hot rod magazine ever printed. Ever.

I agree it's the best mag for the buck bar none. I just figured I would ask before I subscribe.

  18. Now I thought a magazine wasn't taxable - or are these so nice it has the tax people fooled into thinking they're a continuing series of books?

I have let all my other subs expire. This one is going to be my only sub. It's amazing to me that they can find so much stuff to cover.

Plus now they hermeticly seal the mag in plastic before it goes into the outer shipper to preserve that fresh off the press smell!

I was on a plane, reading TRJ and a lady next to me said, "It's wierd to see you reading that (hey! don't I look like can read?) , Our friends own that magazine".

I told her to tell them that it is ART, not just a magazine. You will not find better information, history or photography in the industry anywhere. I also just scan my other mags, but my current issue gets read cover to cover.

    It's worth twice the price.

Last year my neice got my name for our family Christmas exchange and asked me what I wanted for a gift, I handed her a RJ subscrition card. I love the history they dig up and the obscure facts. They also have a very "tell it like it is/was" at***ude. I don't like my heros polished up very much. Did I mention I like the magazine? Subscribe Root!

All of these comments just talked me into subscribing. I too, had let all my other subs run out. I didn't think there was a magazine I wanted out there. It looks like I was wrong. Now, I just have to wait for the first issue.

Interesting that no one has mentioned Mike(sidevalve) of The Hot Rod Company is an Alliance Vendor. I get mine from him. He gives an Alliance discount as well as FREE shipping. Can't beat that and they always are well wrapped and perfect wehen they arrive. As a matter of fact, he has all the good rags out there.

I think it's a good deal at it's current price.........TRJ is an investment. The one 'magazine' I take great care in not messing up the pages.....
Some of the cars featured are not 100% period correct, but that's O.K.....the writing is EXCELLENT, killer photography and the guys there "get it", and it shows.......

I subscribed in '95 at the Nat's in Louisville. The 3rd or 4th edition was just coming out and Pat Ganahl (sp) handed me the first issues that I had missed. So I have them all. Had a little problem with a couple of issues delaminating and they replaced them for me. Super well written, great photags. If you subscribe for 2 years and you ask you get a discount on a hat or T or posters. Speaking of which, you get a poster each year around Christmas time for N/C. It's not part of the subscription, just a freebie. I had three mounted frammed and matted behind good gl***. Paid some long money and had it done right and they hang in my rec, room.
