I just bought this 34 5W and have no idea what the dash is out of. The seller had no idea either. It is cut and there is no instrument panel either.

    Any guesses?

The face has been so cut up it is hard to gauge what might have been there for identification.

  5. Reminds me of my 63 Chevy pickup.

They had a fairly large glove box door.

Isn't ther also a big Chevy somewhere in early sixties like that, glove box under hooded section next to speedo...
it could be one of those with right end and lower edge cut.

I guess I'd start over with a different dash.

  11. That narrow slit for the gauges is making me think IH Scout or 60's Dodge pickup. Of course the early vans could be a possibilty.

Thanks for the guesses so far. I have thought of looking for a 33 or 34 Ford grille bu the original ones are pricy now. tjm73 suggested starting over, that is a possibility too. Something like a 40 Ford dash or some other early piece.

It seems that 60 vintage truck or van is where it is at now.

If you get a 40 Ford dash, don't get it off of ebay! You could put a down payment on a house instead of buying a dash!

I know that isn't the place to get a bargain. I probably will come across a 33 or 34 dash for less money anyway.

No doubt about it........it's right outta the Millennium Falcon. Can't you see the ports for the photon torpedos and laser blasters?

    Hi Jay,

I hope that I can come out. If you haven't talked to Mark, give him a call. It may not happen but I'm not sure. I may even see what I can do to make the trip myself if he can't make it.

I have a lead on nice doors for it if the price is right. You can see some pictures on my webpage. You can see that the passenger door is rough. The driver's door is better and I have inner and outter patches for both of them. I will probably sell off what I don't use. I am thinking of selling the Bitchin firewall and possibly the floor if I find something that is stock in appearance. The tail sections are bad and I have Donny Smart patches for them as well as subrails. The patches don't cover the whole area so I will have to fabricate some of it or find parts from another coupe.

But that is for another day. I am going to Dave Simard's on Friday to see the update on my 3W. He said it is 95% done and there is another 60 to 80 hours to have it set to come home to put together. I will take pictures and post them over the weekend.

How is the coupe doing? It must be great to be driving it. Mark says that you take it everywhere, even to work on occasion.

i want to bump this thread since the car is mine now, and we still don't know what this dash could have been. any ideas?

  19. Not sure where guys are getting 63 Chev truck, none of the clusters I've had for those would fit in there.

With that flat inset, just make an insert to put your gauges in and go. Find something like a 54 Hudson glovebox door or whatever is the right size to fill the other side and be done - call it a custom dash -

i'm not too worried about making it work. i am trying to figure out what it is mostly to help identify the car as one with some potential new england hot rod history.

but i think you are right about it not being chevy truck. the more i look at those the more i think it can't possibly be it.
