Been rebuilding my front suspension. While I was at it I fabbed up some airbag brackets using some s10 brackets from suicide doors.com from the 50 chevy/s10 frame project I sold. I cut down the lower bag cups with a contour that will follow the spring pocket. Then I cut off the original mounting bolts and welded it in. for the upper mounts I weld up the frame/crossmember edge and cutout the factory rivet. the S10 cup has a bolt welded in that would normalling run up the s10 shock mount. I will cut that bolt out and weld in a shorter one that will line up with the rivet I removed. It's about 3/4 inch off. anyways here's the pics. Once I get my kings pins back from the machine shop I will re ***emble the whole front end.
I also redesigned my brake MC/pedal bracket. I used the stock pedal bracket so that I could keep the 3rd pedal I case I decide to convert to a 4 speed at a later date. first is my first version when I was trying to mount the new MC next to the old MC/pedal (it's one piece) and the last 2 are the new bracket. with the pedal ***embly cut off and welded to the new bracket ans gusseted.
dang 134 views and the only comments are from my club mates. Did I do a ****ty job and no one has the balls to say so? I does no one care about dodge. Maybeit's that everyone is speechless awe of my genius? For the non mopar people the lower bag mounts may work on other makes/models.
Just found this one... So glad you are making progress. Its a Dodge, no one cares..... but buddies and other Dodge/Ply owners..
how's you dodge comin along. last I saw you have a MII in and had it dropped. looking really good bro.
On my friend's Track Car he had built the car with an old Chevy Pedal and Master cylinder ***embly which mounts to the frame with bolts through the master cylinder. During the rebuild we installed a dual cylinder with a small booster but were faced with coming up a new pedal bracket. After some thought, I cut off the master cylinder bore which allowed us to use the old cylinder/bracket and simply fab up a new longer pushrod to the new cylinder/booster ***embly about 14" to the rear. Works just fine.
Lookin good man I will be down this fall and you best be driving it. And dont be talkin bout no clutch cables breakin Done any other work to the body yet. Shoe
I also filled the the gaping hole in the rear wheel well, fabbed up mounts for the endinge/****** and Rach and pinion steerinf setup. I still have to finish the rockers and rear body mounts. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=160507
My dad's bagged 40 dodge has the stock suspension with some homemade dropped spindles from a Gremlin. The nose sits about an inch off the ground.
trying to get it ready for dixie this year , dvancek? is there even gonna be a dixie this year? i like your ideas at any rate. seems to me that most of mopars stuff is pretty much the same from the late 30's all the way up til 56 with some refinements and minor changes of course. thanks for giving guys ideas anyways.
Stealth- about time someone has the balls to say something!!! chitbox- I would love to have it ready for dixie fried but not sure I'll make it. I should have my shovelhead ready. 41- 68 corvette non powerbrakes MC
Dave, mine is ****ting waiting for its trip out west.. Motor and ****** are in, back is dropped down (got a 9" from Jeff) and the front sheetmetal is hung again.. I have it backed with shop stuff and extra parts.. (got to put all that room inside to good use). Once the house sells, it gets winched up on a trailer and I hit the highway for the longdrive
im pretty sure im gonna show up this year in a 53 plymouth w/ a 241 hemi in it...cross my fingers. i bought the car through a guy on the hamb. my old dodge is so rotten/wrecked its just easier to part it and build a car with the hemi drivetrain, which i guess would make it as about period correct as anything, for hot rod/mild custom territory. look for future posts in the cl***ifieds for 54 coronet doors, trim, fenders, dash, etc.
Just saw you on p15-d24. Nice pedal setup. I'm working on a similar setup. I figured with that goofy stock setup I'd end up cutting the front of the stock master cylinder off and welding to a plate.
How low do you think you can get it with bags but no dropped spindles? I'd like to get the front of my '38 Chrysler down lower and am watching your progress with that in mind.
about this low. I don't have a side provide shot. but I will try yo get one. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=211999
