( *Looking down at my boots and shaking my head*,.... You poor,... poor misguided boy,....... someday, perhaps the light will go on )
Hell, I'd rather have a plastic bodied '32 than a '47 Chevy........so yup, I'd flog the Chevy as well.............which will finance lots of bits for the '32 and as you won't be wasting time driving the Chevy anymore, you'll be able to spend that time building the '32. See, life is simple........
Keep them both, if the Chev. has become boring you may want to make some changes in it to respark your interest. Never underestimate the value of having a running dependable rod at your disposal. If by keeping both it takes another year to complete the 32 so what. The Chev looks like it will go anywhere and is a keeper, if you do decide to sell the Chev. wait until the 32 is running and dependable. Good Luck
Well as usual there are lots of opinions and that's a good thing. That's why we start discussions. At the risk of offending 32 owners - I've never bought into that whole investment thing. I think investments are for Barrett Jackson but cars are for driving. I've owned a couple of 34 Fords before this and sometimes think it would be nice to still have one of them especially when I see them around (one has over 100,000 miles on it since I built it) but every car you build is better than the one before so why go back. The idea of sticking the 32 away is appealing but it's been sitting for months now and I don't see that changing for a long time. I know a guy that's had a 40 coupe sitting for over thirty years waiting to re-do it.(not you Fred) Well even if he started today, he'd be 70 before he ever got it going - in the meantime it's rotting away and there are a pile of guys that would love to have it and would put it back on the road. After writing all this, I kind of see where my head is about the issue so I'll give it another serious thought but maybe end up sending the 32 to another good home. Thanks for the input.
Obviously your car to do what you want. I have a Deuce Phaeton body from Wescott. Easily doubled if not tripled in value since I bought it at the Nats. in 96. Have a real steel Sedan, runner, that has doubled in value in 4 years. My Impala is worth 3 times what i have into it because I've had it since '79. If you need that cash, by all means ship it. But if your thinking you'd rather have the digits, PM me and I'd like to take a shot.. grinn What ever you deside, best of luck to ya. Oh ya, forgot to mention the 67 442, 4-speed that I sold for $500. in 79 that has gone up so much it's basically outta reach for me now without selling one of the others above. And the 58 Impala CONV. I sold because it just need to go down the road to free up garage space. Bought it for $2000, sold for $3500 in 85. It sold again 4 years ago, untouched for 17,000 and then went onto a rotiserie and had the floors replaced. No telling what it will sell for next time. WAAAAAAAY outta my league. Here, kick me now.
Keep that car of your dream, or sell them both to fund getting the car of your dreams should neither of those be it. You only live once that we can prove. Would be a shame living with regret for all of it.
Sell them BOTH ... and buy something that does excite you ... Bet you would have NEVER thought I would say sell a 32 ... Life is too short ... not to have a ride that gives you a exciting feeling when you open the garage door and see it sitting there.
If you are like the rest of us you should just keep both of them. Because later down the road you will have another project car in the place of the one you do sell. Now on the other hand if you are going to sell one of them make DAMN sure you can replace it with something better than what you already have.
