A friend is clearing his property of some unwanted cars. A scrap dealer has offered to remove cars and pay $125 each. Most are 80's junk, but a few worth considering salvaging. Probably all too far gone for restoration. Good for parts or "rat-rod" only: 1964 Chevelle station wagon (4 door) 283, 3 spd manual with overdrive. Ran about 12 years ago. Is the drivetrain worth much? 1949-50 Plymouth/Dodge 4 door, flathead six. Three of them. 1974 Oldsmobile Omega (Nova) 350 Olds V-8 with 3 speed manual. Engine block is cracked from freezing. On one hand I hate to see them scrapped, but on the other hand....an awful lot of work to salvage a few parts if they are not of much value.
I would buy them all, then strip off what is any good. Haul them in yourself. You'll get more than 125 for each AFTER you take off the parts. That 64, if the "wagon only" stuff is still there.. rear bumper, glass, tailgate, rear latches, taillights, etc...that is $$$. Manual trans parts are worth more than 125 all together. The pedals are worth more. The Plymouths must have something someone wants..and they are worth more than 60.00 a ton. The Omega/ nova.. If it has disc brakes, and the steering arms unbolt, those spindles are worth at least $150. Should be a Chevy 350 in there. Take the bellhousing and trans. If OLDS, take the same parts. If you are into scrapping out cars and seperating the metal, etc, you will make easily double your money without taking off any parts at all to sell.
PM me if you want to flip that Olds for some cash, I could use some parts out of it.. how rotty is it? Does it roll?
Check those mopar 6's for speed parts such as aluminum heads, dual carb (or dual barrel carb) intakes, split exhaust or exhaust headers, etc. Not too likely on a 4 door, but it never hurts to look. Then look close for any sign of an overdrive transmission. Those are worth your time. There are lots of HAMBers and folks over at the P15-D24.com forum who would love to have this kind of stuff. And I'm one of them! -Z
Parts are Parts man..Thats Money sitting there..just break it down and start a hot rod garage sale..any old chevy parts 50's? are there fender skirts on those chrysler cars? hey advertise it all on here ..bet you will get rid of some of it.
i would let it go, might take 5 years to part out all that parts, maybe sell some small parts on ebay
I would buy it all. I bought a 64 Chevelle wagon for 150, sold a fender for 150. Nothing else was worth a fiddler's fart except the rear bumper, tailgate, and side glass. It didnt even roll and I got $900 without any front clip. You can sell anything if you search for the buyer. That means you must find the club, website, swap meet, etc that caters to a particular item. If priced right, you will do very well with that stuff.
