Are there any Tire Makers out there making a Wide White Wall Radial? say 225 70 R 15? or any where near that .? Fit on an 8 inch rim?
Coker? or are they only Bias ply tires?

I bought mine from Coker about two months ago, they're B.F.Goodrich wide white radials. Very good service from Coker, but cheap they ain't about $800 for the set of big and littles.

well lets face it if bias ply tires were any good we would all still be using them on all our cars and there wouldnt be radials..I do drive the **** out of this car and i like the performance and ride i get from the radials that are on the car now..just would like the wide whites too..nothing wrong with having her pie and eating it too...

no dout, radials are performance tires.and no dout, if you don't have power steering radials will ruin your steering box.

i thought all big riggs have bias plys ?

i put about 15 to 20 thousand miles on my cars a year on bias plys.and when i lived in texas it was more and the weather was way worse..

coker does offer a newer radial ,though .check 'em out.

well here in michigan radials are king..our roads ****..and the radials really help calm the ride..ive used the bias plenty and there is a difference..never had a problem with a steering box because if the tire choice..big rigs use them because thats mostly all there is for them..but there has been development into radials and some of the rigs are running them now..it;s mostly due to the weight issue..and radials that size would be alot harder to manufacture and cost would be prohibitive..besides who wants their baby to ride like a truck if it aint.?

wonder if they are worth it? and if they are wide enough..i hear some guy developed a paint that is flexable and it has been used on high dollar models of cars like the 20's cl***ics..for that wide wide white wall tires that are not even made any more..the guts from ice land or someplace like that..its a polymer..coating..hmmm? it would be a ***** if it turned out bad tho..all ****ed up looking

I hope that guy wasn't me. :D The port o walls work great until you hit about 30mph, then they start flappin in the wind.

A friend of mine tryed porta walls on radials and they destroyed themselves in no time, too much sidewall flex. They work fine on bias though.

Thats a good point that I didn't consider. I had them on bias tires for years and they were good.

If you do decide to get Coker's, they are an Alliance Vendor. Meaning, you can support the HAMB with your $50 Alliance membership and come out ahead on the tire purchase.

Check out some details here on the Alliance and all of the perks of membership.

I've got 1 mile, yes 1 mile on my port o walls. Right rear shredded. They aren't new but new to me and new to the car. 3". Put them on for ****s. Looks terrible because the radial bulge ****s them all up. Don't bother.

I'm getting my wheels painted for my bias plys!

Geez...what's the matter with radials? Don't we put hydraulic brakes on our pre-40 Fords? Don't we upgrade the suspension? Don't we use modern wiring? Does this dude that eschews the use of radial tires also have a 6volt electrical system? I have a great set of Coker's BFG WWW 285x15 and 185x15 on my coupe...of course they were expensive, but they are good-looking as heck, and they sure are a comfortable ride.
