    I have a Lincoln 175(?) works fine,no problems.
220 volts, not quite powerful enough for real think stuff.
But it will handle 3/16" no problem.

I've got a Hobart 251 and it will do anything you will ever come across building cars. It's 220V single phase. I run .035 wire in it and can do 1/4" at half throttle.
I've got a 110V machine for thin gauge stuff and between the two machines there isn't anything short of heavy construction they won't handle.

I guess if you're getting a deal cool, but I don't think ESAB is any better than Miller....

    I'd have gotten the 175 if I'd had 220...

  11. dont know where ya live but check the cl***ified, in every paper you can find.

for example a friend of mine bought a

250 amp ac dc miller gas drive, constant current constant voltage with a 16 hp onan. low hours, and included a miller spool gun and all the extras, gas bottles leads etc, on a decent trailer for 750 bucks.

with that thing you can weld anything you likely will ever have the need to weld , be it steel, aluminum or stainless.

low hour unit i used it and tried like hell to talk him out of it...

he found it in the sunday paper, here in tacoma

I use a 255AMP Thermal Arc Viking mig.
Personally, I would'nt have anything smaller except for sheet metal work only.
REMEMBER: The Duty Cycle is extremely important and in MOST cases, you get what you pay for. Step Up and spend the cash for a good quality unit, and self-darkening helmet. A year from now you will be so glad you did.

I have a 220 volt Hobart 165 amp machine with a miller gun, when I bought it the vendor said miller and hobart merge companies. Anyway used it to chop tops and weld mustang II and am very happy with it. I had a 110 lincoln sp125 and it work good for sheetmetal work. Very happy with both tools

  14. I vote for a Miller 175. Never had a problem with it.

I bought my Hobart 175 machine from welders direct. A main difference between it and the Miller is that the Hobart "clicks" into each voltage setting (10-20-30-etc) where the Miller can be dialed in in between those clicks. For a non-pro welder like me, that doesn't make a difference, so I saved a few bucks with the Hobart and have been very happy with it. The cool thing about Welders Direct is that their prices include shipping. I had a good experience with them.

ESAB's are great, reliable, convenient, but DAMN pricey. Which ****s saying there an ESAB factory a few miles from my house and I still can't get a cheap one. Wonder if I went dumpster diving?

My Miller does good for me though.
