I am biased against 4 doors, and I figured since it was apart to lose the extra openings, why not a 3" channel and a similar chop?
I'm all about a two door sedan conversion for this car, but no more of those gay "shorty" ones where they take out a couple feet of length. The two door and four door are the same length damn it! Even the roofs are the same. You just need a pair of two door sedan doors and quarters to make it happen. I just happen to have all the pieces you'll need if you're interested. The rest of the car is fine.
4 door to 2 door conversion...that's a shit load of work. It would probably be cheaper to find a real 2 door.
Also workin on a gasser with an altered wheelbase and straight axle.. but the hand aches so it will be a while.. That is why that one is like that.. I agree moving it forward does not make it look better, unless its a gasser..
A two door conversion is not that hard if you have the parts and you're a good welder. It's a lot easier than trying to patch together a shitty body. And have you priced out '55 Chevy 2 door sedans lately? Go find a nice fixable one for a "reasonable" price.
Four doors don't bother me at all. Shave the door handles and other trim and half the folks don't notice at all. Find some 1957 Desoto stainless or fab it up with any long straight piece and some stainless flexible door trim, and do a sedan version of my favorite 1955 Chevy custom.
aaaaaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! But, but....it's supposed to be Ol' sKOoL!! I've never seen any Ol' sKOoL limos "kustomized" with a K!
i like that custom too, maybe some day! i also dont have a problem with the amount of doors, the more the better!
A different roof, different quarters, different door jambs, and different rockers.....I think I'll stick with patching a shitty body. I've seen this done several times, and no one ever seems to finish them. It's more time consuming getting all that shit to fit right than putting new floors in and quarters on. As an owner of a 56, I keep tabs on current 5-7 prices. I'm not trying to piss on a potential sale, but I hate to see the guy rip it apart and never put it back together.
First things first. LOSE THE FUZZY DICE! I hate four doors more than anybody but I remember running around Pasadena CA with all my buddies when we were teenagers in this exact same car. So I had to try somthing. It would be alot of work but why not create a kind of american Ute? I've seen it before. Call it the: "Bel Camino"®. -stick
Bumpstick, that could be pretty damn cool. With the right wheel covers, it would fit in right along with some of the mid to late '50's custom car-turned-trucks that were built.
If this were mine I would defy all that we know about hot rodding. First I would actually raise the roof! Sure, chops are cool but why not be the first on cruise night with a really high dome?! Second... no small block in this baby. What she needs is a dozen Briggs & Stratton mower engines... supercharged... and running on something environmentally friendly... like.... ground beef! The thought of the exhaust is making be drool! and finally... you gotta have a cool sponsor; and nothing says cool like USDA CHOICE. THIS BABY CAN COOK!
damn, that is pretty cool! thanks to you guys that took this seriously and werent being an ass about how many doors i got
Hero?? Hmm...well, I wouldn't refer to myself as such. Shouldn't you be reading about heros in your comic books?? Nobody's hiding bro. I'm easy to find.
4 door??????????? That's no 4 door, It's an Extended Cab Sport Coupe!!!!!! At least that is what I tell people that make comments about my 1950 4-door Bel-Air. Feel free to use this term at carshows!! People seem to get a big kick out of it. Bear
