I think squirrel hit the nail on the head here. I like the mild chopped ones way better than the stock height, and way way way better than the excessive chopped ones.

How about a different approach that ends in a win-win for everybody? Offer your big window cab as a straight across exchange for someone else's chopped small window cab. You're happy because you've got your well-proportioned chopped '55 and the other guy is happy because he scored an unmolested big window.

    You're welcome!!

    Bingo! Bingo! Winner! Winner!

The white '55 chopped Chevy is owned by a guy in the "Autobutchers C.C." named Dan, lives in SoCal. I think that's a 4''
chop. The roof was quartered and metal added, once it was chop-
    ped and dropped.
If you decide to go the chop route, first find a good autoglass guy,
not some dildo who "thinks" he can cut down a curved windshield!
These trucks look and work well with a mild to medium chop, "if"
    you're under six feet tall!

I like the looks of this with a mild chop. but agreed they can look pretty goofy if you go to far.

  5. This I personally know-These cabs [wide and little glass] both can be chopped at least 4" without touching that roof skin....no cuts= no bondo.....:D
That is if you are a qualified professional shop.....

i had a 57 chevy big window, short bed step side ...to me those trucks only need lowering. the porportions are perfect with the stock roof line.

WRONG!! Some folks happen to think the proportions are just fine the way they are thank you. You want everything chopped. Not every person that can afford a Ferrari buys one. Not everyone who can afford a chop wants one.

  9. He wanted advice on chopping his top- that was HIS choice....
If you read his post.... No advice on :D NOT chopping was requested at all.

I personally have owned a LOT of cars over the 31 years I have been professionally chopping tops.

In that 31 years I have had =TWO= cars of my own that I built that were chopped....
    A 31 A coupe in 1979 and a 1956 Suburban I still own as a project.....

I was told by an old timer, I dont know how fitment is.....

BUT, The old guy said ... use the rear glass & frame from a BIG WINDOW '57~'60 ford & chop the CHEVY cab to fit the STOCK size rear FORD glass.

FORD glass is much shorter than the CHEVY glass, then ya dont need to worry about the rear glass at all.

I've tried to chop a simalar truck, and it sucked!, i personally lack the skill! my advice is to mesure, mesure and bloody messure, cut up models to see how it goes and pre price all glass cutting and have a written quote from a tradesman, heres my photoshop of what I'd do- just slam it

it will look badass. just dont jump into it... do your other mods first and keep asking questions and studying your truck , i mean sit there and think about where you would cut and , where the cut after that would be... you can do it, and it come out right... I chopped my car after about 6 months of studying it and asking alot of questions...
