9" ford 3rd member - $265- "Is that good?"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Carl E. Hagan Jr., Jun 27, 2007.

  1. Shelled my 9" last week. Not many junkyards here in KC. Anyway....I've now been to most of them and the cheapest quote I've got was for $265 for 3rd member 28 spline 370'ish gears.

Is that high?? I figured a 31 spline would run that, but a 28spline??

I only found 2 yards that even had 3rd members. What's your thoughts.

I bought 2 off ebay that were much cheaper than that, even with shipping, and they were the 3.25 gear ones that a lot of people want, no posi of course, but one was $77.00 and the other was 100 or so, figure 40 bucks or so for shipping

  4. That's what I was thinking. They say all the stock car / dirt track guys are buying them up around here.

I'm at a loss. Speedway Motorsport here in KC had 6 or 7 3rd members last night but they where pricey too and all of them where spooled with 455 to 500'sh gearing. Crazy

It's somewhere between highway robbery and interstate robbery.

You ought to be able to get your pumpkin rebuilt for not much more.

thats a good price if it a posi, and it's been gone thru. it's gettin harder to find 9" parts her in denver. posi 31spline 350 pumkins bring 400-450 all day long here.

    Robbery

Buy them all day long for $100 to $150 complete ... my local guy has at least 15 or 20
    57 to 59 Ford complete rears ...

  10. I would bet its a Trac-Loc for that price and if it is its a steal.28 spline Ford Trac-Locs are scarce. An open 28 spline is worth $100.00 at the most if you ask me. I just paid $100.00 on Ebay for the kit to switch my 31 spline Trac-Loc to 28 so I can use it in my Chevy.
