Besides Chuck Zito, Billy Lane, Ron Finch, George Barris, Gene Winfield etc? I was walking past a photo shoot with some young pouty faced model posing in Teddy Boy Drapes in front of a cheesy Billet Barge and I went up to the stylist looking guy. I said, "What the hell is this, GQ?" He says, "Yup." As if this shit wasn't outta hand enough already, we've got GQ ready to give it their metrosexual spin. Are they gonna call the VLV issue Greaser's Quarterly? I had a great time, met some great HAMBers, saw some great music and stared at a lot of T&A.
man..I thought maybe someone spotted Miss Hootch dancing on top of a car nekkid, except for go-go boots, while some feller got beat up, ala Blue Velvet....
I think this guy was. After the Sweedish Moonshine hit my head. I honestly remeber nothing about the rest of the night. NEVR NEVER NEVER will I drink the evil shit again.
Wow Mike, great picture man, I'm gonna save it. It was great seeing you pal. I didn't get too tore up, but then again I'm usually fast asleep before I get to that point these days.
[ QUOTE ] Was Bo Huff there? There was a guy who looked a lot like him but I didn't know for sure. [/ QUOTE ] yah, bo huff was there
Bo was there. Draglinks got me good with an April Fool's joke 7 days after the day. I was eating breakfast when he called me up to say he'd decided to come out at the last minute, he said for me stand at the bar and he'd be down in a minute. I waited and there was no show, then there were calls from his clubmates. I was thinking cool I'm glad there's more Orlandoans here. It wasn't until ten minutes later that I realized I was being hosed. The summbitch got me good though.
after about 5 calls from others leading him on and that we had lost each other after we were dropped off...stay there were on our way...............................................................after some time I had my 4yr old call and ask if he'd seen his daddy and if he does to let him know he was at the black Jack table waiting hahahaahhaahahhaahahah we were all at a local Orlando car show getting a little loose....We laughed so hard and long it hurt. Nads even when your outta town we can still have fun together brother..you were missed for sure
Nads....ya know Im no huge drinker but that shit went down like water and kicked like a mule(no shit it was fire water from Sweeden). Im really mad at my self. I missed some amazing bands that night. I just really went to far. But I managed to hold the camera steady for a 3 second exposure!!!!!!!! Vickey Tafoya makes me cry with her voice...And I missed it. I missed sid and billy King.....I missed jack baymore etc etc. Oh well. Nads you got a place to Crash If you should happen to come out to the Salt Flats.
So where didja get that furrin' moonshine from anyways Mike? I saw Jack Baymoore, it was as good as ever and their guitar player, JJ's, lost a pile of weight. Last time I saw 'em I thought the kid was gonna keel over and die.
Vickey Tafoya kicked ass! Don't mean to make you feel bad but I had never heard her b4 and was blown away.
nads, after i was asked to mc & introduced my ol fried vicky tafoya & the big beat d you remember sittn on the side of the stage with me durin the entire show? we drank together. man, the look on your face when she did rosie & the original's "angel baby".......your jaw was layin on thesteps and your eyes were popping out! with your nearly gone scratchy horse voice you looked over at me and said "oh shit"! that night was great and her acapella set with eddie nichols and two other guys was unforgetfull! i felt like i was in new york on flatbush ave. back in the 50's! glad you came out man!
we were walking around downtown last year and they asked my friend to posed for some pictures, fuckin weird
The beelzububba man wuz out there, I saw all of ya, an billy, an Gene, and George, Terry cook, an I saw Axle a running around all over the place, you got more mileage in than that kid with the 53 chevy with the musical grill! But he got to see all the puuuunnnnntttaaaannnngggg!they wuz on his car man!
Almost as good as her show, was Mrs. Tafoya at the Teenagers show. They're doing "I'm not a Juvenile Delinquent" and start stickin the mike in the audience so people can sing a round of "no, no, no, no, no". Pretty bad on the first couple of guys they pick and then you just hear this voice. You knew right away that that was a singer and the crowd kinda cheered. And then she started singing again all the way through and the crowd went crazy. She is awesome. Her set and the Extraordinaires two shows were well worth the price of the trip to me. Everything else was just icing.
man, that sucks I did not go into the show this time. Vickey T. made my knees week when I 1st heard here at VLV 2years ago, and I bet this was even better. The Extrodiaries are harmony at its best... sounds like I missed out..
