I was thinkin, how hard is it to straight axle an early A body Mopar? I was thinkin about just unbolting the K member boxing the frame stubs(which really leed them selves to this) and putting in another front cross member. And yes this is all after I conect the subframes front to rear and side to side. Any tips on doing such a thing?

  2. Been done seen it, yer on the right track. Attache a front cross member to the 'k' member with your front spring eye brackets, and stubs to the rear for the shackles, Square tubing .090 wall or better for the member and stubs, brace the stubs in front, back and vertical to keep the flex down with gussets. you are on your own for the dropped pittman arm, look at later mopar light truck steering boxes for a longer one to have dropped enough. Have that done at an experienced shop that drops axles so it wont break and kill you. looks reeally bad azzz, sixties a/fx g***er stuff. Look at some g***er sites for inspiration, the Ramchargers did crazy stuff like this back in the g***er wars.

    Do you have any pics?
I want to do a G***er Nash or Rambler but dont want to build a new frame for them. I have an ignorant question where is the K member is that the on that front suspension hangs off of?

Dixie, if I'm not mistaken, the K member part is where the diagonal pieces of frame attach the side rails a transverse crossmember. So they form more of a 45 degree angle.

I don't really need to build new frame stubs for it, the stock ones boxed would be plenty strong and good looking. But being that my car is a hardtop I may not do this, cause if I straight axle it then I'll need to run at least a 4 point cage to make it LOOK right.
