My rpu has been stuck in permanent mock-up mode. I finally got the body back off of the frame, and got the thing closer to finished. I finally ditched the 1,269 clecos and welded the back wall & rear quarters on the rpu today. I am SO happy to finally have that part over. Now I can finish the floor, tunnel, & tranny cover and get the freaking body ready for paint before I turn 99 I am way too tired to write anything, but here's some pics as it sits. Work is gonna come early tomorrow
Haha... Man I was thinking of leaving the clecos there once I had to plug weld all the holes, and grind 18 miles of welds down
This has to be my fav thread in quite some time. Im following this build very close......................... Awsome progress!!
Looking real good Dan. Your project has kicked ass all the way though. I always look forward to seeing the updates.
I love what you're doing there! It looks great- doing some very nice work. I'll be trying myhand at something simillar soon so I'll be studying your progress. Jay
Thanks for the nice words guys, I appreciate! Man, I'll tell you one thing though, I must be getting old.....Staying at the shop til 2am is like a bad hangover. I was dead all day at work today Kind of like when we were young & foolish. You could stay out all night, come home and go straight to work and feel fine. Not anymore. Recovery time is growing Dan
RAD! Very nice.... How heavy is the body with all that tubing??? I have a '28 cowl and doors.....I may 'steel' some of your ideas for it......
Good question honestly-but not as stupid heavy as you would think. It was a fordor body, so the whole original structure was wood, very rotten wood A 28/29 cowl would make a great rpu, always liked the strip in front of the door
It was a 32' coupe Actually it was this: I cut it up because I bought this: I didn't want two sedans, and the rear doors, rear body, & roof was pretty beat, but the cowl & front doors were really nice. So instant(ok, not so instant) rpu
Man, I only used a few clecos hehe. Besides, I gotta start making some progress to keep up with you! Your project is coming along nicely Richard
nice job dude! hate to imagine all the man hours that have gone into this project. the ones i'm refering to are"staring and glareing"
