I have done a search and come up with not much good answers, so I will just ask the board. I am stripping my 53 chevy, but cant figure out how to get the outside door handles off! Plus the gl*** has gotta go, whats the easiest way to do it. Thanks.

If they are like my 52, theres a clip on the outside door jamb...pry that off and the door handles should come off...

    hmmm...take off the door panels
there's a screw, maybe two that you can access on the door handles with the panels off. Take out the screws. There's also a clip that slides off, again accessible when the door panel is off.

windows...same thing, door panels off. There will be fasteners. Undo them. Usually helps to have the trim molding off too.

Yep, on the '54, there's a long clip that slides through the door jamb and into the slots on the handle. Best way I've found is to pull the door panel and access cover then gently tap the clip from the edge closest to the front of the car.
