Damn Ive been waitin for this day for a long time. Started in the Shipyards as a Boilermaker in May 1969 workin swingshift and finishing out the last Month of Highschool.
I started out at 4.20 an hour by Christmas I was makin 4.60. I was one rich MOFO. None of My Buddies made over 2.00. Min wage was I think 1.25.
I tried some other things over the years but always returned to the union.
So now I have 67,000 HRS and callin it Quits. Gonna finish up the last of the interior on My chopped Shoebox -Drive the FUCK out of My chopped 49 Merc and race the FUCK out of My Racecar!!! I will be doing work on other peoples cars for extra money. So now I gotta find a coffee shop where all the oldfucks meet and bullshit in the mornings.

30+ years left until my glorious days of retirement (unless those elusive 6 numbers come my way - I guess must play in order to win, "anybody gotta dollar?")

    Enjoy the new freedom...

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
I was eligible 3 yrs ago but allowed myself to be talked into another position for more bucks. Now that I have my "high 3" pushed up I am ready to go. Maybe in March. Like you I have all my things to do planned out...retirement is the time to get you life in gear!

Congrats to you. I retired just about 2 years ago after working a 7 day rotating shift schedule for almost 40 years. I was planning on retiring on Thanksgiving weekend but at the end of August they said I was going back onto a working everyday schedule. I told them the hell I was and finished up that evening and have never gone back. I love it when they still call and want me to come back for some training new operators and doing some prep work and I tell them NO, and leave me alone. These last 2 years have been great, you'll see. Good luck to you and enjoy each day.

That is just great. If you lack something to do you can always stop by my place and do some yard work. I'm told the flowers I've been watering are weeds. Who'd athunk?

I'm envious too. Retirement for me will probably be when they start throwing dirt in my face...

Been five years for me and I still haven't found anything bad about retirement. Shit, if I'd known it was this good, I would have retired 40 years earlier.

Congrats to you, ya ol' fart !!
