I want to paint my frame with the same paint as the body of my car, but figured the regular clearcoat wouldn't be tough enough for that application. I was told that POR-15 Makes an ultra-durable clearcoat, and I found two of them when I went on their site. They are: -Glisten PC (http://www.por15.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1435/.f) -Pelucid (http://www.por15.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1253/.f) Has anyone had any experience with either of these products? And if so, would you recommend them for what I will be using them for? Thanks!
I've used the POR-15 clear on both my ch***is and the POR-15 color on my engine. Good stuff you can not crack it with a smack from a hammer we've tried, very tough and hard wearing paint. Must admit that I've never used it over an existing paint finish. The clear went straight onto clean metal for that barebones look.
my chevy has pcglisten.. depending what your going to use it on I would not recommend it.. it takes along time to DRY.. (like 72 hours) the clear por 15 is not uv stable..
POR 15 urethane isn't UV stable but the Glisten PC clear is..different product to the normal POR 15 product. Because we can't get parts cad plated here anymore,I use Zinc gold plating.it looks like cad plate,is dirt friggen cheap but fades,so I preserve it with Glisten PC,Perfect for quicky engine bay clean ups on bracketsdetc. it's also great for keeping polished rocker covers shiney .
