As of yesterday, my newest vehicle is 43 years old. The Saturn has been in a long, steady decline, so when the tags came up for renewal my wife and I decided to let them expire. Neither the truck nor the '51 is anything fancy. Just an old car and a beater pickup, but they've been plenty reliable for around town. Still need to glue the cab back together and rewire before I call the truck good (for now), but it's coming along. Now as long as I remember to breathe, everything should be fine.
I Hear Ya. My Old Honda Is On Its Last Leg And The 54 As Yet To Take Me Down The Road. Once I Am Firmly Planted In My Old Chevy The Honda Is Going To The S**** Heap Never To Return. Never Again Will I Have A Car Newer Than The Mid 60's... I Sure Hope My My Skills Are Up To The Challenge
So you finally decided to take the plunge? You should be alright with those two, I mean you drove that truck home from how far when you bought it? It'll cause a little more "routine" maintenance than the Saturn did, but isn't that half the fun of old cars? Bill
Yeah, I keep telling myself they're better than when I bought them. Just hoping I'm up to the challenge.
Sweetie drives a 98 Toyota but my aim is to have nothing newer than 50 years old on my key chain. Currently working on a '50 Fordor for my 20 year old and the older boy drives a '58 Apache. I have a '50 GMC 100 and a 27 Ford Coupe in the future for myself. I quit buying new cars years ago and absolutely refuse to own a late model car I can't pay cash for at purchase time. We decided to follow the advice of a guy named Dave Ramsey several years ago and as of December 2005 we are completely debt free! No house payment, car payments or credit cards hanging over our heads. It is a great feeling to know I can work anywhere (including Walmart greeter) and still stay afloat. Stick with your older cars and you will live a lot less stressful life.
