i have heard you can use an adapter plate and bolt a newer 5 speed tranny from a s10 pickup right up to the stock 4banger in a 30 model a but any other ideas or you agree with the s10 tranny idea would be great!!

I've done this swap, well mostly, the engine isn't back in yet. The adaptor bits can be had very reasonably from Auto Restorations, I think the plate was around $80. You'll also need the TO bearing shaft adaptor and pilot shaft extension. I'm using a model A flywheel, so I bought his clutch disc as well. I spent around $300 total plus the trans for $100. I fabricated a custom center crossmember to use for ladder bars and hold up the back of the trans. The T-5 is plenty strong for even the strongest of banger motors.
