I will be painting enamel over some in a couple of weeks. Will share the good or bad news with all. It has been on the car for about a year, so I am hoping all the bad molecules have evapo'ed out.

Not a good application to put any "modern" paints over it.
Blitz is a synthetic enamel, even Centari (acrylic enamel) is a big improvement over it. The stuff never really seems to dry all the way, so you shouldn't put a catalyzed paint over it. This is a simplified explanation.

    Hey,

If all you're after is a year of service life in a finish why not go with
a coat of Rustolum Semi-Black. It will last for the year, is cheap as
hell, and don't look much different than Blitz, if sprayed correctly.
Don't waste your time or money on sealer to cover a synthetic
enamel (Rustolum, Blitz, Nason, Western, et.al.) as they will all
cause you trouble, if topcoated with a catalyized finish.
Plan on sanding the job back to bare metal and using a primer
thah will work with your "real" paint job, down the road.

As said above, why not something more easily rectified when its time for real paint. DP90, Rustoleum, somehting to that effect. It will save you lots of time and work when its time to do the job over.

  6. blitz black is misery in a can if you insist on painting over it.
    ask g***er 57 about it.
