Well I admit I am pretty lazy! And if you need PROOF then well here it is. My homemade engine stand. It's made from 3"X3"x1/4wall tubing complete with dc motor and SCR controller. I built this thing a bunch of years ago Don't think I posted a picture of it yet. But as I was using it while working on my digger motor I snapped a pic I thought you guys might enjoy.
Moral of the story - don't under estimate us lazy guys!!!:p

And before anyone thinks I am a "GOLD CHAINER" keep in mind I have absolutely ZIP, NADA, NOTHING inverted in this - other than my time and some MIG wire.:D I bult it 100% from scrap materials off the junk bin at work.

Now that's nice. Takes some pulling to roll over a Chrysler. Never thought of a moterized stand. Way cool.

It took alot of work to appear to be that lazy. I think it is cool. My boss tells people (while he is pointing at me) that he would rather have a lazy mechanic that gets it done right the first time than a mechanic that is full of energy that does the same job over and over before he gets it right.

Damn, I want one of those....

By the way, lazy guys are efficient.
They only start doing something until they've completely figured out how to do it, and not a moment earlier.

I'm very efficient, but have some trouble with the figuring out-stuff.... :D

Well I don't know what the definition of lazy is where you live, but that stand took alot more time and effort than I would have put forth. I just go to harbor freight, cheap and easy, couple of bolts and voila! (that's french). gots me a genuine chinese moto stand! Hell I change the channels wit my toes when the remote is on the floor cuz I don't wanna get out my seat to get it. Now that's LAZY! must be the mexican side of me.

Guys thanks for supporting my laziness - just remember I never said it was easy to be this lazy!!!

Ian - trust me, it sure did feel lazy as I stepped on that foot pedal and the 90volt motor came to life :)

Hey Hmi Rambler, thanks for the brake advise. RPU is stopping as good as I might expect for the hardware I'm running. Whoa horsey!

See, I understand the laziness at work here. Try to follow. Sure, it's really easy to go buy an engine stand, and it would stand to reason that going out and buying one would be considered lazy............and just ordering it online would be even lazier.

However, you ave to put forth the effort of manually turning the motor every time you use said lazily obtained stand.

Now, the other side. You put forth some effort to build an absolutely kick-ass engine stand with an electric motor to turn the engine mains up, and vice versa. Effort involved in obtaining the stand is far offset by the lack of manual labor in any and all future uses of said electric stand.

Laziness at its best and most inventive :D

Now, if it had electric motors and a remote control so you could move it around the shop without having to physically push it....................you'd REALLY be on to something then!

I am lazy like you - I had to build carts to bolt my 235's and GMC's to so i could roll them around the garage.

Aww man! I wish I had a picture of one I made a few years ago. It was for a 235 chevy. I "borrowed" a metal shopping cart and took off the basket. there are some that have a flat metal crossmember, you just drill 2 holes in that, and the back part of the engine just rested on top of another crossmember. It was nice because the casters were really smooth and also because it had a really low center of gravity, it was only like 2" off the ground. I will look for a pic.
