Can anyone tell me if there is a difference bettween a constant voltage regulator for a 59 fairlane and a thunderbird? I am trying to get my fuel gage working and the voltage regulator is bad. looking for a replacement.

If you're talking about the resistor behind the gauge cluster, try a VW bug unit - easy to find & cheap.
