so ive seen alot of coupe turn roadster hear and there and havent seen to many i like, well i ran across a 29 sport coupe body a while back and have had it sittin in the shed stareing at me, i have the bottom 4 inches of a steel back coupe roof section and decided that id use that to add the 1" bead the goes from door around to the other door and then cut the doors at the top of the square reaveal, i also wanted to narrow up the doors at the top because they were to too damn wide, so basically turn it into a real roadster as good as i could, it should hopefully fool the average joe hot rodder.

so heres a few pics, my buddy had built a frame a while back and decided not to use it so i picked that up from him, so today we set out channeling the body and building all the subrail, we got most of them done, just not the front section because i havent gotten the door fit done yet, i fugured id get it rolling with a motor and trans with all the lower fab work done then make the doors fit (they fit good right now i just mean fit perfectly).

stay tuned tomorrow for we plan to get some more work done on it.

Got any pics of how you handled thinning the doors? What ya got planned for the windshield? Roadster posts?

Keep the updates on this coming, I'll be watching closely!

    Looks good so far.

to tell you the truth i havent gotten alot done on the body but tomorrow should be good, so far ive done the top of the pass quarter, the pass door i started on too, i just cut the inner flange where the door panel would attatch too off, then i also narrowed the door pillar, and will narrow the a pillar.

i have a 30/31 roadster w/s frame that is about the right width so i will make some post that look like stockers, or at least resemble them.

heres some more pic of the door tops, the door i got my hand on had already been hacked up for the same deal, they were just too wide for me.

i made a top for the door on the shrinker stretcher, ill have to do in inner curve too and there will be a weld seem on the top of the door.

i also made a cap for the top of the quater panel.

heres a couple of pics of the front end, didnt get as much accomplished today as i would have liked to but i have tomorrow all day to get some shit done!

im gonna put the axle suicide but its gonna be behind the grille shell, the front crossmember will be below the crank pully, the axle will be below the rad, basically a spring over with out the spring in between the frame and the axle giving it more room to come lower, im sure its been done lots before, ive been studying front ends and thinking about how i wanted to do it and this is what came out. i will sink the front spring crossmember into the frame then cut off the other front crossmember thats in it, then make some frame horns too.

The truck is not mine, it is owned by a friend of ours Mick Kieffer. He used to impersonate Barney Fife at car shows around here. Jeff is building it for him.

heres more update pics from this morning, i got the front crossmember channeled into the frame, i still have to cut off the other front crossmember that is no more and make some frame horns to, but that will be later, i think im gonna dig out motor and put it in today, if i have everything i need.

yep is gonna be the vulnerable small block chev, probably a 327 and a 4 speed, but i havent decided yet.

got a little more done on the front end, cut of the old front junk, still have to make frame horns, dont have metal for them yet.

it will have regular tube shock like in the pic with headlight mounts incorperated into those.

it will probably have a 28/9 shell on it too.

Looks good Jeff, narrowing the doors is'nt too much of a problem. Front of door tie in to windshield post is where alot of people screw up the looks. On mine, I fit a 33 Ford dash which tapered out over the door top. I've gotten alot of compliments on how it turned out. People say it looks natural or factory-like, when obviously it's not because it is a 33 dash.

i got the motor in today, it ended up getting a 283 and a 4 speed, but that was just for mock up, so it still may end up with a 327, i have to do some poking around on the engines and do some compression tests to see which one is better, then ill probably put a cam and oil pump and t chain in it to freshen up that part of it, i may end up rebuilding one anyways but who knows!

im gonna try and do some more metal work on the body tonight, well see, im also looking around at headers to figure out what i want to do on this car, dunno yet!

i got some more sheet metal crap done, i got the rear section cap all made, and got the drivers door top made too, i still have to fully weld it but didnt feel like it tonight, next step will be finishing the inner door structures and then making them latch, i have a pair of mini bear claw door latches, im not to fond of them because they arent a old part but hey, the doors gotta stay shut and i got them for free, and they are gonna fit perfectly, so be it.

i also got a dual chevy truck master cylinder for it and a clutch slave for the same, i gonna mount it on the firewall and then of cousre use swinging pedals, its also gonna have a vega steering box in it so it should steer good.

stay tuned for more progress, ill post everything on this post.
