I've had two binders, both '63s. Not fast but very reliable and will pull a house down if you can get traction. Parts can be a big paininthe*** as they used lots of different stuff in the running gear, so try and find an old time parts place that has a guy who knows his stuff and you will probably do alright.

Go to one of the chain stores and they will usually laugh at you on any parts bigger than light bulbs and oil filters.

They are fun trucks with personality, but can take a lot of your time tinkering and parts hunting. got rid of my last one over a year ago and still miss it on occasion, but just didn't have the time for the care and feeding.

Sorry, I can't help with pics but I do think one would look cool if done right. Do you have any pics of the truck?

I've got a 61 Travelette, 4 dr short bed half ton, ex USAF truck. planning of setting the body on a Dodge diesel ch***is. Try ebay, might find some stuff. One guy has all new weatherstrips, window seals, and gl*** channels, and headliners for them listed all the time. Do need some fust free front end parts for mine though. Pm me if you run across something out there.

  7. I've seen a fair number of late '50s & earlier IH trucks customized or rodded....for the most part, anything newer seems to be restored, or off-roaded.

So far as parts are concerned, I'd check with the following places. I've bought from the first three personally & all are decent. Scout Connection is closest to me, so it's my #1 preference. Whoever you choose, call them....the websites aren't complete.

    http://www.backcountrybinders.com/ slow, but good

http://www.binderbulletin.org/? forum, all you'll ever need for info

    http://www.scoutparts.com/products/?view=product&product_id=14219 no personal exp.

There was an International pickup/Scout shop near 19th St and Washington until about a month ago.
They are probably still around, they got kicked out for the trolley.

  9. Neat trucks. We had one on a 'baccy farm I worked on in '79. That is till my buddy rolled it into a ditch. It ran upside down quite happily.
