I have a 1947 Mercury like the one in the center of the first picture on this thread. I bought it in 1967 and put a 392 Hemi in it.

It's amazing that a lot of your grandpa's pictures could have come out of my families photo albums. Just the feel and subject matter bring back faint memories of my chilhood in the Allegany mountains of Pennsylvania.
I'll see if my mom will let me borrow the pictures of the '37 ford sedan my grandpa bought new. It had a v8 60 and my mom learned how to drive with it. Seems strange that would have been only seven years before I was born.
    I'm getting old.

  5. Thankyou for sharing. One of the best threads I've seen in a while.

Someone in our family has pics of my grandparents all dolled up for a big night out in Chicago. Period correct fashions against late forties cars. Super cool black n white photos. Gotta find them and post.

Anyone else have similar treasures to share?

@Flathead Youngin' I'm bringing this back to top...why because it's a great reflection in the life of Hotrod from just one of many perspectives...

Despite the Photobucket watermark's you can still get what they were saying...its all good and Bttt...;)
