I was spraying my frame and I got overspray on the wife car. I have water on the hood so now she has black water rings on her hood. what will get these off without dmaging the clear? I tried bug and tar and it didn't work.
Goto Grainger and get a product called Grafitti Wipes. The stuff works great to remove just about everything. They use it to remove Grafitti on subway cars. Keith
any good detailer would simply use a clay bar! Dont waste your time with anything else.....clay bars are made for just that!
3M finesse it III it's a light compound. only problem you will have is when you are done, you will have to do the whole car because it will look better than the rest of the car.
Tha clay bar works a treat for that, and you wont have to cut and polish the whole car. That is unless you need to, how mad is the wife?
Might as well take the time to cut and rub the whole car. That is, if you have time. My sister drove through some wet road paint with her Altima and I had to do the same thing. Take an hour or two and the car will look a hell of alot better than before the overspray. Plus you'll have a better shot of getting that makup sex.
Man, I painted a jeep flat black and hated it. I used brake cleaner and took it right off. I don't think it damaged the clear coat. It cleaned up real well. BloodyKnuckles
Bug and Tar remover is usually the same as painters Mineral Spirits. Lighter Fluid would be closer to painters VM&P Naptha. If the above suggestions to use a clay bar don't work, you might try going to a good paint shop and ask for some of the above mentioned Naptha. It is a step stronger than Mineral Spirits, but will not harm your paint job.
Well, a friend of mine had his car (a '95 something-or-other, so it has a clear coat) intentionally spray-painted by some dirtbag ... A can of OOPS from AutoZone took it right off, and the paint looks fine.
I' ve done the very same thing to my dad's cars about ten times and several times to my own clay bar i the safest and easiest way, THRUST ME
CLAY BAR all the way! It worked for me in similar situation. I used the Meguire's (sp?) kit, but there are better deals out there.
Another detailer here, clay bar is the way.I find polishing work too but as stated already you'll have to do the whole car.
Actually she's not that pissed. In fact we just got back from the bar and are laughing that I typed "help got overspray on the wife daily" rather that "help I got overyspray on the wife's daily" We saw 17 replies and expected a bunch of sex jokes. Thanks for all the replies. sounds like clay bar is the way. Thnx again. The HAMB rules as usual.
just hand her your balls now..... haven't your Sock F*&kers playmates taught you anything.. you do not play with spray guns with other cars in the driveway (or on the front lawn)...
Re read your own post about a dozen times. Maybe you will save yourself some added work in the future Dave
