Hello all, As I said in my introduction, I'm new to H.A.M.B. and the model T style cars. I searched the forums/archives and couldn't find the specific info I was after, I apologize if I missed it. Ok, here goes. I have a question about setting up the spring behind style I beam front-end. What I would like to know is I've seen the original way it is to be set up, (lots of pictures etc.,) but I've seen some cars done with the shackles mounted to the radius rods instead of the batwings. Is that a bad idea? As I'm new I'd just like to make sure when I set my front-end up it's not going to haunt (or kill me) in the future. I am interested in keeping the front end low as possible, hence the spring behind style set up. thanks, 25Thobbyist
Yep ! that's it... I only seen a few done this way, wasn't to sure it was an acceptable way or not. BTW, what would be a adverage swapmeet price for a set of bones (original ) like those? without the shackel mod. thx,
Shackels on the bones are ok many a car have been done like that. If you check out evil bay there is a guy selling batwings to put a spring behind axle batwing that will connect to a I beam axle If you want to use radius rods Insted of the split bones.
I'd like to stick with the bigger lookin bones.... I like the looks. What kind of "sticker shock" should I expect to see on a set of original bones at a swapmeet? I'm new to T's and don't feel like blowing the wad to early at Iola if I don't need to... LOL Thx, 25Thobbyist
