I just recently (this week) bought a '29 Model A Tudor from a guy in Parkville, Mo. He's owned it for 29 years and it hasn't moved in the last 16. Its been in the same condition since he's owned it. The car already has juice brakes. The engine turns over, but i'm putting in a 59AB and a 39 trans. The body is pretty straight and rust free, so I'm going to leave the paint the way it is.
There was about 400lbs of window and windshield NOS or replacement gl*** for cars ranging from 1940 fords to 1961 chevy's. The gl*** was rapped up in 1968 St.Louis Democrat New Paper.
Check out the pics and the radiator cap.

    cool find

  3. I see you managed to squeeze it in, nice find! Just a question though, what year are those wheels you stuck on it, I see they use a slightly larger cap, '31, '32?

Supposedly there is a model T here in jackson Michigan in a ba*****t and to get it out you would have to tear out a wall and part of the ba*****t. The lady that told me about it (it was a relation) has p***ed along with her husband. I knew about the car but never followed up on it. My buddy came over today to prime the 32 frame for me (he owed me a couple and I am Lazy) :) He told me there was a 30 rumble seat coupe in the local paper all reastored for 7k friday night and he called and was too late?
I was at toledo speedway for the races and dont get the paper anyway.

I like your plan to preserve the past... maybe bigs and littles on the Kelseys, flatmotor, '39 trans... and HAVE FUN!

The wheels on the car and the spare wheel on the back for sure are 19" 30-31 Model A wheels.
The ones on it for transport are V8 wheels, probably 1935 16"s, 32s are 18", 33-34 are 17". The various styles of 32-35 hubcaps, both 4 and V8, fit them all.

The wheels are 16" kelsey hayes. I recently got some PMs about the gl*** found in it. One of my local buddies already claimed the gl***, I have no idea what most of the gl*** is, only some of it was labeled. I'm swapping all of it for some sandblast work.

Plans for A include: the 59AB/39trans, the kelsey hayes wires, 34 ford front axle with a super low posies front spring, de-arched posies rear spring, new seat covers, and a beer cooler luggage rack on back. I'm going to try my hand at pinstriping.

Anyone have an idea how long the A rearend will last with the V8 as long as I'm not too rough with it?

  12. I dunno... pinstriping might be a little too Rockerbilly-Rat-Rod for a special car like that...

And a beer cooler? Is it going to look like a normal "trunk" that hangs on the luggage rack?

For those questioning the beer cooler idea....It is an old metal luggage rack trunk that is being turned into a cooler; on long trips, it will still be used as a tool box....nobody will be the wiser. if i work fast enough, the car will be at the drags next month.

An update on the A. The reason its been 4 1/2 years, is I had to finish a '39 ford pickup for a paying customer, but the A has been on the road since the end of the summer.
I attempted to leave the body on the frame, to not disturb the well aligned body as much as possible. But, the more i dug into it, i quickly realized it need to be removed. The frame had a few week spots in the rear area that needed to be re-inforced. So i removed the body and ended up completely stripping the frame down which allowed me to re-inforce the orginal cross member.
Pretty much everything else remained the same from the original plan. 59AB flathead, 39 trans, '38 ford cross steer, using the original A rearend with 3.54 gears, early juice brakes. Still need to finish up the interior, but its usable as is. Put about 1000 miles on it since August.

Another True AV8 on the road.

I have no idea where the rad cap ornament came from, maybe an old lamp shade???
It was on the car when i got it and is staying there as long as i own it.

  30. I drool over AV8s, and this is no exception. Very nice car, and looks like heaps of fun.
I even like the red wheels. The whole package looks like something from the 60s, or earlier.
