figured i'd start up the sunday models thread since its 2:50 AM over on the east coast. so what have you guys done with those models lately? this is one i started earlier this week, spent a few all nighters to get it where its at. its got a '40 flathead with tri power and home made lake pipes, chopped 3 or 4 inches, '40 ford wheels and tires, home made driveshaft tunnel from a sopft plastic bic pen, custom shortened driveshaft, its all pretty much there except for wishbones on the front, and i have yet to finish bodywork on the body. it is heavily inspired by ryan's coupe, and others i have seen on the hamb, i swear if it wasnt for some of these traditional hamb A coupes, this car would have looked completely different. i think i might try to shrink down a hamb firewall tag in the paint program for the firewall of this car. just needs some paint now!
Looks good from here. I need to clean off the bench and finish a couple. So, who else has some plastic to show off? Come on....light a fire and inspire me to get back at it.
Man, that coupe looks great. Good stance, the chop is right, and you can't go wrong with black. What did you use to make the lake headers? I've got a little bit of paint on the HAMB T-sedan ch***is...gonna let it cure a bit more then I'll snap some pictures.
ok-I know this isn't a model but my 9 year old daughter put this together(I provided the "muscle") for pine wood derby at out church--she won best of show and 1st place in the 4th grade cl***
Heres my A coupe. Still a Long way to go with it, was building a replica of a mates car but I just want to chop ti and his isn't chopped! the 32 rails have been flattened so the 32 grille wont sit higher than the cowl, grafted in wheel wells from a 32 kit and have since finished all the interior structure as it wont have any interior. Ol'skool, yours is nice (I feel like an *** for not saying it before!) Good stance and nice chop!
Ok, here's my progress. Frame still needs a clearcoat or two, maybe a polish but it looks alright for now. The block is painted and ***embled, as are the rear wheels. I shot the whitewalls on the rear slicks as well, they still need to be cleaned up around the edges. I used my airbrush for all of it, that thing is a pain in the *** with all of the required cleanup, but it works pretty damn well. You can see a peek of the interior, I'm using raised pleats on the rear panel to match the roof insert. The interior and the roof insert will be white with gold pleats, and of course the rest of the body and visor will be red like the frame.
i used the headers from the 1950 ford f-1 kit (the one that has the flipper caps and ardun heads), and the rear axle tubes from the 31 A sedan kit for the cones. heres where you cut on those headers from the kit i'm using squadrons white putty, their green putty works exactly the same
first off where are you guys gettin the model a coupe kits i want one --lol -- didnt even know there was one ever produced and here in a lil bit ill get the pics of my latest up
Hey guys, I had to put some stuff on today . Here it goes , AMT 50 Chevrolet truck . Chopped , sectioned, rolled pans , 57 Chevrolet wheel openings. The filler pieces are various custom parts from vintage AMT kits. The blue fender parts are Revell 41 Willys for example. Still got a lot of bondo work to go. I keep changing my mind on the direction of this one. It will be a wide whitewall fifties style dream truck someday. The rods are the new 3- window , a old AMT 5-window, and a flat-top box Vicky, the one with blue windows and a can of Testors Pearl inside. The Vicky is a old trick from back in the day to get a two door sedan . This was before the Orange Crate came out of course! I just went through one day whackin tops. I'll put some more on in a little bit. Love the show today.
ok guys as promised pics of my latest first the wifey FINALLY got her merc finished and im dammm proud of her i looks killer and blows mine out the water (candy apple one is hers and bronze one is mine ) what do you guys think, whos looks cooler? Next i was sittin here the other night thinking about oh how i would love a g***ser Willys and said wait a minute Gotti, i got an old built Willys kit in the computer room destoyed by my son. why not rebuild it as a g***er. so i took off on a mission, dg it out of his toys, nd said yeah this will work. so i completely built a scratch frame for it, robbed a parrellel leaf spring front axle out of the spare parts box along with a big block chevy and a hilborn injection & some wheels and tires and here is what i have come up with thus far. im liking the purple paint but for some reason i want to change it, thinking of a light blue kinda like stone woods and cook Ive got quite alot of projects jumping back and forth across the table right now. Just picked up a lindbergh 32 Pu, picked up two Barris T buggies the other night for 5 bucks each, thinkin i may build one just for the hell of it and part box the other, also picked up another 55 Nomad thinkin i may go with the Kustom el camino look for it or possibly a slicked out kustom nomad, and im still building on the roadster from last weeks post but it has kinda changed directions some (colorwise)
Here's some more projects. The 56 Chevy started out as the new Revell-Monogram 56 Nomad kit. I cut the roof and a little of the top of the body from a old AMT 57 Chevy along with the trunk and glued it on. I sanded the side chrome down until I had a 210 model sport coupe! Its funny , but things lined up almost the same as far as door lines and all. It will have a molded grille opening and the custom tailights out of the same old 57 kit. I might glue some Desoto grille bars together to get me a long grille across the front. The 36 is a old black AMT . I rechopped the chopped top for better porportions and to get it lower. Molded in the stock headlight buckets. Used the solid hood sides , molded the hood together. Used the 36 custom grille surround . Another old trick my uncles clued me in on is using two AMT 40 grilles to make a LaSalle grille. Someday I will finish it up Westerguard style.
Gowjob, I love the weathering on the bubble. This rails a trip. Saoutlaws Gotti, I like the red Merc. How did you work out the side chrome? Ol Skool 29, show us how to make that HAMB decal. Fidgiter, I like them tailights. Good show, MORE!!!
Think I'll join in this week. Gi'me a few to clean up and web'ize' the pics. Very cool stuff guys. keep 'em comin'!
Here is the last thing I'm putting on tonight. I'm not going to post again until I have started back on one of these projects. I just like to show things off. This is a car that I carved out of hard foam and glazed some bondo over. You can see the guide coats. I'll use it to make a female mold . Trying to make something similar to the drawing I did. The track nose is for a narrowed Nylint metal T roadster pick-up body. The other piece is the trans tunnel for the same car. Come on Jigger, can't wait to see what your up too.
Here's a 1/8 scale '32 I've been working on. I plan to try and have a real striper lay down red lines around the scallops. The hinges will be blue. Interior color is undesided. red and white are the front runners there. Also, I'm still up in the air about which engine. The grille seen here is 44 years old. I will have the new grille done with a stainless look. G]
Very nice Jigger, I like. Those colors really pop now , after some striping, it should be something else!
Thanks, Cory I might bite the bullet and do it myself but a fellow HAMBer in a near-by town said he might be willing to try.
BlueJay: Yes,I've seen your stuff before. Absolutely mindblowing when you realize the scale. Didn't realize you were in Toronto.
Customcory -- the side chrome on the merc is half round syrene that i bent by hand and laid a lil bit at a time down with super glue, then tapered the edge with a file for the front fender peice -- it was just a thought that i had and had to try on the wifeys merc considering that she smoothed the whole thing out an i thought it needed something to set it off -- like i said im very pleased with the outcome and gonna have to try a more ellaborate design on another up and coming major kustom, maybe on the 55 nomad/elky and for the rest and Fidgeter - here are some pics of the 34 truck i been slaving away on all afternoon and into the evening. today all started with a returned PM from fidgeter on some pointers and tips that i pm'd him about (thanks again buddy ) and after that i was inspired to work on the truck because this is going to be the most involved model ive done in quite a long time. so the top got chopped and reattacted friday evening, and after reading fidge's pm i decided to bust *** today and shorten the bed then i decided to shorten the frame to compensate the shortened bed, next it was time for a severe channel job. once glue was all dried i did a frontend and rearend mock up. the damm thing sat way to high even with the drastic chanel so i z'ed the frontend and now im fairly happy with it hopefully by next week i can have the grill shell chopped, body work on body and bed done and in primer, frame and engine all knocked out and in paint.... HOPEFULLY
Very Kool love the Merc..... Here is one (1/64 scale) that I've been working on and off for a while. I was hoping to have it ready for Salina the end of the month but its not going to happen......... Happy Trails, Mick
