Do any of you want to sell your stuff??? Thats what I thought. If the old fart wants to let them sit thats his business. At least when he p***es he will have something to p*** on to his family. Its not like a 60 or 70 yearold car is gonna rot completely away in the next 10 or 15.
Hey look at those cars that haven't been sent to the crusher, good on the old man for saving them. Hopefully, Larry can convince him to sell a few.
Man, I get tired of hearing about a tin find and then the old guy who thinks an age fairy is going to magically make him 20 years old so he can finish them all. What a crock of ****!
Hey guys, I've got "Fred" and the trailer, and nothing to do. Kick in a bit of gas and we can run down there in my empty truck and 18' dovetail car trailer and bring something back. Let me know if you want company and/or want "Fred" to carry the load.
Cool Iron photo's. That 34 or 35 Buick 40 series 3 window coupe would make somebody a good project or cut the top off a sweet rare piece. It's in #5 & #11 post's. I had a Buick 50 series like that, which is a little bigger.
Doesn't look like the right surroundings, and the cars are spread out a bit too much to be the stash on Highway 64 headed west from Cleveland. Some similar vehicles though. Edit: I just read the rest of the thread. I guess it is the same bunch of cars. I've driven by these for years, my family is from Cleveland and Pawnee.
I just talked to the old man and he ***ures me that he "just" ordered a bunch of parts from Speedway, J.C. whitney, (insert your fav catalogue here) and is going to "Restore" everyone of those butes by the end of the month so he can give them to his grand kids....I don't know about you but I believe him!!
Thanks for posting the cars. I hope they find good hones, I would be really upset to think that they could be crushed. Bob
There were at least a couple of hundred sites just like that here in Michigan about 40 years ago. A friend of mine and his 2 brothers took a couple of years and spent every summer checking out locations that they heard about from college friends and some they just came across. Almost to the number they were told that the cars would be fixed up "someday". Now, when you visit the sites the cars are all gone as a result of the cleanup that took place here several years ago when sites were identified by the state and mandatory crushing took place. It was during the era of Lady Bird Johnson's campaign to beautify america. They compiled a couple of photo albums cataloging the cars with locations and pictures and it would make you cry to look at what ended up being soup cans and license plates. Frank
What's all the *****en about? What, are you gonna buy em all and drag them home to be hoarded in your yard instead? I like to see this, if he didn't save all these half of them would be long gone by now. Even if they get a little more rusted, so what - you guys are here because you want to learn how to weld and make custom panels. These are not rotting into the earth, they are being kept far away from the chinese steel mills. They will be for sale one day, everything is.
Yeah, that's why I've drooled over some of those cars for 30+ years now. Some of them have been there as long as I can remember.
You're both wrong. Like I said, I've p***ed this stash of cars for years going to family get-togethers in Pawnee. Here's where they're located... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...05,-96.486998&spn=0.030573,0.058365&z=14&om=1 Right at the curve near the center of the map, right on Highway 64 west of town. If you drive thru there, you can't miss them.
OK, I think I'm gonna get ripped here but what the hell. Why is it that a guy can't own a stash of old cars without a bunch of people thinking they deserve them more. I knew people that were into demo derbys and they would har*** people into selling them cars. To the point of being downright rude about it. This guy must love these cars if he keeps them around. Personally I think the greatest loss will be him. Think of the stories he must have about each car, trends and what it was like to be "traditional" when it was cutting edge. There was an old timer around here that was great to listen to and we all miss him.
Just reading the post that were left made me sit here and grin. A bunch of grown men acting like kids in a candy store. I love it!! Atleast the dreaded word, eBay was not brought up. Thank God!! Larry good luck trying to liberate some of the vintage tin. Keith
I think that he has been sippin' moonshine and watching Overhaulin. Chip and the boys could film the whole year at his place, do a car a week. He is just waiting for Chip to call him back. OR, maybe he is Megamillions lotto winner and is now ***embling a crack team of automotive spe******ts to infiltrate the yard, restore, rod and customize all of them. "That is your mission, should you choose to accept it. This post will self destruct in 5 seconds"
