Lacks imagination. Overplayed. Black primer, red rims, black primer, red rims......oh make it STOP! Green like your dash with bullet caps and lugnuts ($40 from the lugnut king for all of it). If you like the green enough to paint your dash, you should like it for the wheels. Let me know if you want the # for the lugnut king

  3. Gloss black with Pep Boys baby moons and beauty rings would look sweet with the pinner whites you have. Until you can afford some wide whites, then go with some full wheelcovers.

Forget the color of the wheels... I personally think that wide whites would make more of an impact on your car than anything else would. Save up for some wide whites and then paint the wheels whatever color you like.

There is about a MILLION colors that would work with black.

If yer going Green on the interior i would suggest a Green or Gold~Copper~Bronze for the wheels.

I have Gold on my Black '55 F~100, my daughter has a Black '62 Falcon whith a Dark Green'ish wheel, Cal Custom Spiders & inner Trim rings.

I did some wheels once with the PONTIAC Engine blue, light metalic color with thin whites ..... Looked great.

Had a '51 Chevy, Light Yellow wheels with wide whites, Looked very cool.

But "RED IS DEAD", Perfect way to put it !!! Way Over Played

You can change the whole appearance of your car with some clean wheels

The idea of gold hammer finish with small caps and/or trim rings should work out good. Uh, just a question, are you going to reprimer your car soon ?

shoot some small skallups on the side that match the dash with a white pinstripe around them and paint the wheels to match the dash too. Itll change the look of the entire car

  9. I have always liked red wheels and they will always look good with black cars period!

But I already have one black car with red wheels so a change was in order with the truck,,,,

I opted for a strange color of green,,,so,,I tend to think of green as the new red!:D HRP

    BTW,,,the firewall ain't red anymore,,,

He doesn't have an opinion that's why he's asking us. He's afraid to do red rims because they are "CLICHE" and now flat black is becoming "CLICHE"
During the fifties and sixties I painted all my rims BLACK.
For his car I'd do black or red rims with full size '57 Plymouth Points hub caps (like someone said).
Check out the look on my old Rambler.

well to be honest, like i said earlier, the interior is coming first. i dont think i will reprimer my car again anytime soon because 1. itll take to much time, and 2. i'd rather save my money and get a real professional suede black paint job and have it look nice. so i say.... around december i'll have my car ready for that :D

and im not sure who wrote it earlier but i did like the idea of painting the wheels flat black, then buying the moon discs i wanted and putting those on there, and saving up for some nice wide white walls. as for the idea about the scallops, i never thought of that. doing that the color of my dash, that'd look really great. i appreciate all these opinions and ideas, gets me happy :D

(oh, and the talk about "flat black is so cliche", it really is i'll admit, lots of people use it now, but i just love that look, especially on the 58 fairlanes, it looks so nice and clean, nothing beats my dad's old 58... it was the best... and in the pic of when he had it green, notice the wheels and hubcaps, i love that, but i cant find those hubcaps anywhere)

  15. fill your body trim holes ... reapply the trim before doing the interior or the new threads will rot from the inside in..

He's a new guy trying, so ease up a little guys, he may not realize "red rims" have gone the way of the words "rat rod" AND my most hated ---old school---!!! GOLD in any form, flake, flat, semi-gloss, gloss LOOKS good!! my T will be gold flake with white interior, with CHROMED stock rims (not "smoothies"!!).... Ken

Good gawd. I can't believe this is a post that has made it this long...this topic is beaten to DEATH...the fact that you listed "rat rods" in your bio makes me lose all respect for ya...sorry. You shouldn't say that 'round these parts. You needed to do a little more lurking before you joined. I do respect your choice of cars though...

Paint them pink and be a shade off everyone else! Flat black goes well with pink...

Do what you want to make it your own...isn't that what "hotrodding" is all about?
