hey all so yeah I'm noob here, but hey I've got a conundrum. the G/F found this sweet '50 Pontiac silver streak that runs, is in good shape body wise, and it's a steal. I'm hoping to eventually chop the roof and do some other mods to it as well. What I'm looking for is a no BS opinion on what you all think of these cars. I haven't heard a whole lot on these, and am just looking for some input thanks D
i am doing a camaro clip, rearend ,stg and brakes on a 51 pont fast back crurrently than the owner is going to chop it. so these cars are being done. the roof and glass is the same as a chevy so no problem there. personaly i would never build a car i didnt like nomatter what any one else opinion was.
I think any car of any US manufacturer in any body style made before around 1965 is cool. though many individuals have taken cool cars and fucked them up trying to be cool. as for 50 pontiacs.. cool. the question is why do you care what a bunch of strangers think? buy what you like and do whatever you what to it. screw anybody that does not like it. how's that for no BS?
I agree with you 100% man, I guess what I am really looking for is modding opinions, and that sort of thing. Like the chevy window change out...didn't know that. I haven't heard of a lot of these cars being worked on, but again, I'm pretty new to the game, so I shouldn't just go on that. and yeah fink...that's what I'm talking about LOL Thanks for the input so far all!
I like Pontiacs more than Chevies, but I have 2 Chevies because I can never find a Pontiac to start with! The only huge difference is that aftermarket parts for the Pontiac a near zero, whereas with Chevy they repro everything. (SOME body parts interchange, but Pontiac has its own suspension, brakes, engine, trans, etc.). Just be warned that it'll be tougher to repair and maintain unless you swap all the mechanicals out.
For some reason the '50 has always been considered the coolest of the post war Pontiacs. Don't know if it's the cool taillights, or the light-up indian hood ornament or what, but they just had a good combination of front and rear styling, and always seemed like the best looking of the GM fastbacks.
