    Hello Slicks,
After seeing the thread about stolen cars I started to do some resurch. I was looking for a safe way to protect my car from being stolen and thought about putting in a LOjack system but found a better solution: There is a company that offers a pager type GPS that cost hundreds less than the others. The company is AnyTrackGSP.com, and you simply put the pager inside your car and relax. $200.00 for the pager and a small fee monthly or yearly. yOU CAN MONITOR THE CAR FROM YOUR COMPUTER.

The other option would be to wait in your garadge at night with a bat and hope to catch the *****..ADMINISTER>Blunt trama.

    Thats all folks....hugs and kisses
    BSB:cool:

A-freakin-men brother! I divorced my second wife because I didn't like her boyfriend!

I would like to know more about these systems though for when my kids start driving. Things like when they aren't supposed to be somewhere, have breakdowns but don't know where they are, or their cars are stolen to make it easier to recover them.

  9. I found them at www.anytrack.com. THANK YOU for the info. I am seriously considering it. If this had been available a year ago it would have been hidden in the teenager's car.

    Thanks

Well as long as the car is out in the "open" that's fine, but if it goes inside a building you won't get a satillite signal.... unless it retains a history and you can track it to the door it went into...

**** that, even at $129 a year, that cost covers quite a bit of additional agreed value with an insurance company. guess I don't get as attached to a car as some of you guys, I'd welcome the opportunity to cash out and buy something different without the h***le of selling, especially when insurance could potentially pay higher than the market value on it...

See, problem solved. Just have somebody with a loaded weapon keep the cars in eyesight 24/7/365. Don't ever leave the house with your spouse. Don't ever drive your car anywhere where you both want to get out of the car. And if you have more than two cars, you'll have to trailer all of them to wherever your going. Can't leave one at home while ya'll drive the other two. Plus, in Austin at least, some restaurants frown on bringing shotguns and rifles to the table. Other than that, great plan.:)

I came up with a great and cheap solution that will protect any car anywhere from being stolen.
I have a portable motion sensor that also has a portable alarm box.
I use it in my antique shop to alert me when customers enter the building.
I recently took these with me to the Cinematic and simply layed the sensor on the floor hidden and pointing towards the drivers door when it was parked in a hotel parking lot.
The first thing any low life will do is open that door to at least steer the car to a trailer or such.
Then...its time to get out my friend>>:)
This setup is cheap and works great. I think it was around 30-40 bucks.

    Well, I dont know.
I can only say it reaches at least 100 ft. And buildings have no effect.
I use it in a building when i am in the yard, house or garage.
My antique shop is in another building.
Everything operates from a AA and 9 volt battery.

That device is nothing more than a cell phone with the E911 mandated GPS functionality built in - you're basicly buying a cheap phone and access to the cell company's tracking data through their website....

There is info about how to do this using a regular old prepaid cell phone on the web - just got to look it up...

    Hey y'all:

I'm with AnyTrack---I decided to check out the site when I saw the URL pop up on my screen (I'm the interactive manager.) Hope you don't mind but when I saw the thread I thought I'd offer you a code that will give you 30.00 off if you decide to buy the GPS-100. Enter "HAMB" in checkout when it asks for coupon code. Code expires 7/15. Thanks for letting me stop in. www.anytrack.com

    Here are a few variations.
They differ in price and probably distances.

  28. I had a friend back in California some years ago, he gave me a ride home one day. I was sitting in the p***engers seat some thing touched my foot. It turned out to be his pet python called Ruby and she was friendly but scary. It turns out that when he went out in his old car he took Ruby with him and nobody would touch that car after the word got out. Now that is cheap car protection, take care, Rags

As the dad of a 6 month old little girl, I am really interested to see how this technology advances in, oh say, 15 years!

Thieves now a days aren't breaking into cars...they meerly walk up to you while you're stopped at a stop sign, point a gun to your head and say, "Yo, give it up".

Now I know many will say they won't give up their car but in reality, when a 9mm is pointed at your head that barrel hole seems like looking down a 2" pipe.

At any rate, happy cruising ;) .
