While being very productive at work, I was looking at the photos on the AHRF website. Check out this crazy flathead OHC conversion. Does anyone know what those rods are for coming out of the v-drive dizzy mount?

    Enjoy

What the heck happened? The picture won't show.

Maybe it's copyright protected. Sorry guys. It showed that it loaded up.

Damn it! I can't get it to work.

OK- here is where you can find it. Under picture gallary, go to "Under the hood" Click on engines. You'll see it on pg. 1 at the bottom left hand corner.

There is an Isky/Ansen banner in the back. Really wild stuff.

    Sorry about this guys...

That's a DOHC conversion ... the rods are driving the cams.

OHC, correct. Ah, yes no belt or chain. Some sort of gear drive in there?

The "rods" are the drive for the cams

If its the engine I remember, there's a sort of box replacing the distributor containing the 90 degree gears turning the shafts, running up to more bevel gears driving cams...kinda like Crosley, only from original cam location instead of crank. Could not find my way to right pic--the engine I'm thinking of is pictured in some of the 1952 vintage flathead books, Huntington or Fisher.

It was high production...used in a 4-p***enger off road vehicle, mostly in export applications in European and later Korean markets. Later served as the basis for the early startup of the Israeli vehicle industry...
    Really.

The Pacific ones generally had the Deluxe Cigar Lighter option package, which could incinerate a cigar and its owner at 300 yards!

During the 1960s, several large farm operations in S.E. Idaho ran these V8s on natural gas ... pumping water to thousands of acres that couldn't be flood irrigated. They ran non-stop from April until
September, oil changes & maintainance done while on the line. I recall hearing they were factory rated at 500 HP ...
