Gl*** turned out nice; I had the shop extend the gl*** ever so slightly so's to provide some deflection at speed. Won't know until it's rollin' down the road what the comfort speed is. After many motorcycles, I can tell you that a bike's windshield may be comfy at 65 MPH but downright painful at 80 MPH. Same will hold true here - I just hope the threshold is above 60.

The frame had a bit of a twist in it - when I went to straighten it so as to slide the gl*** in, there was the dreaded 'tink' noise from the driver's post. After sanding the welds flat, there wasn't enough meat on the one outer seam - so it broke. The gl*** is held (mostly) by the center support, so I'm not worried about it. Will solder the seam closed for cosmetics, and run it as-is.

The door fits are bugging me. Before the body went off to Scott for paint, I made sure there was plenty of room; now with all the accessories on, the frame has developed a sway - it's lower in the middle than on the ends, making the door tops too close to the door jambs. I have to unbolt the body and shim the snot outta it to get the door seam right.

Gotta finish off the fuel system, cut the dash for the gauges, wire the car and install the interior. That's pretty much what's left other than adjusting and tightening stuff. She's close to being streetable!

Yes and no - we're having a grad party for the eldest - kool - which means no work on the car - bummer.

I did get your message; we were in the middle of a fire drill at work which is why I didn't return the call - sorry. Still need that rosebud torch to bend the spreader bar, BTW...if it's still available.

No sweat. I'll have to dig it out or go score another one. Looks like I'm gonna need it for the hay baler, friggin tongue got bent on it and I need to pull wagons with it now.

Still, you could slip away for a FEW minutes to maybe run a wire or something, couldn't you?

    Chuck,

That truly is a beautiful car. What a eye for design and finished product. I'm very impressed. Did you go with the 400 jr after all?

  20. Lookin' good, Chuckles. She deserves some shots from a really good camera so we can appreciate the color.

Zach get the credit for the lines of the car - All I did was finish what he started. I treated it as a resto of a circa '49 race car...everything fell into place after that.

Cam? Yup. 400jr. it goes rump quite nicely; have not had it above 30 MPH yet; car's got all fo 6 miles on it. Motor seems to load up at idle still...will have to look at the front cab as I think the PV is not seated properly.

Concerned about overheating; even with the pusher installed she'll run only about a half hour before exceeding 200 degrees. I'm hoping it's because it's still tight; will try a run to work tomorrow as a shakedown - hopefully that will loosen it up a bit.

You wanted to see what sorta heap that s**** went into - you got your wish! the s**** makes the car, ya know...that and the hollywood license plate light.

I'm gonna see about getting a car designer buddy of mine to do a proper photo shoot - maybe this weekend - when I get REAL pix, I'll be sure to post 'em here.
