I think it's a pretty nice paint job and glad to hear you use one of those spray things rather then the button. Having Fun With Cars Is What It's All About.

So, OK, if you have clear on it, you could probably buff it, but odds are there is VERY little actual solids on the car. In other words, the spray can paint is very low solids and most of it helped destroy the environment rather than end up on the car. Just be easy and try a little spot first. You are likely not gonna sand this thing glass smooth and then buff without going through the clear.

By the way, if you go to my link below and look at the "Other Toys" part, you will find my very first vehicle which happened to be a 1955 Ford F-100 purchased when I was 14. I spraybombed it with about 12 cans of spray paint bought at the local small town "Farmboy Grocery" I painted it out in the middle of a freshly cut wheat field to avoid getting paint on other stuff. It was then flamed with vinyl pinstripe tape. Serious stuff for a young guy. Looked better in black primer (before I painted it), but it was kind of fun.

Don't laugh at the wheels. This was 1977 we are talking about!!

looks pretty good too me, a definite improvement. It brings back memories of the time we spray bombed my buddies old 300.00 toyota when we were in college. about 6 cans of plain ole blue Krylon, no fancy clear coat to help it last of course. It looked good for a few months, then everytime someone would rub against it they have dusty blue powder all over them.

  4. If you're happy with it, enjoy it. At least it looks like you're making an effort. It does look streaky in that first photo - but that's a problem you're going to have with metallics, it's easy to get that look to them unless you're careful, especially with spray cans.

So you can just buy a clear coat in the spray can as well then?

Looks good!! I painted my daily driver flat black a couple of years ago and its holding up pretty decent. If you buy a can of spray undercoating and rob the nozzle off it and install it on the spray paint can, it seems to flow much better. I had tiger stipes on my hood until I tried this. Just make sure that your hand is movin' when you pull the trigger 'cause you can empty a regular can of paint in about 30 seconds when you use the undercoat nozzle!!!

    The blue does look cool!!

So here it is. My polishing went south because its too hot in the sun, so it just hazed on. I'll try it again when its not blistering outside. But I got the bumpers and stuff back on, and I also eliminated the bump guards because it looks cleaner, and they were rusty as hell. Also got my pimp 49 license plate on, and washed it!

i knew i wasnt the only one that uses wraping paper to mask off, thats awesome!!!

  10. Ain't nothing wrong with that effort. Kudos for masking off important stuff. I once bought a decent '68 GMC pickup, with a brand new Earl Scheib paint job. They painted over the rear license plate and some dirt clods in the bed.

  11. It's no pro-job and I think you know that, but I think it looks loads better than it did before the new color. And I like the blue and white. Drive the wheels off of it and enjoy.
