We had an adjustable mount for the rear axle all figured out, but when it came time to install it the space just wasn't there betweem the frame tubes.
Since we never really thought we'd need that adjustment we decided to do without. If necessary we can run larger tires. So the better part of the day was spent fumbling with the adjustable setup.
The final setup was simply a 5/16 plate welded in the space with a tube into which the axle halves could be inserted. Its slow progress when stuff doesn't go as planned, but as long as we meet each week, slow progress beats no progress at all.
