H E L P !! What is this???????????

I bought this about 12 years ago in western Colorado. I never have been able to figure out what it is exactly. I figured you guys might just know I hope. I am starting to gather some parts to build my rat rod.

Looks like an ashtray. Should come right off.

 

Judgeing by the dash insert I would guess early Packard or Desoto. The firewall has an offset indent most likely for a straight eight.

No, not at this time atleast. I think were going to start building it. Just need something for the rear -- quarters, cab back or maybe ???

wow.. that never gets old.. oh wait.. i take that back.

 

OK, I've got it! It's either a 31 or 32 Willys-Overland 6, the instrument panel was the same both years but differed from the 8 cylinder. It is not missing a visor. '32 was their silver anniversary, and they wood-grained the dash that year.

This was found on page 278 of "Monstous American Car Spotter's Guide" by Tad Burness, 1986, Motorbooks International.
