So the 58 is running like crap. I have had the carb rebuilt twice and it still tempermental. Is there an easy aftermarket swap? Like a holey or something. Im just tired of dealing with this carb and I want to finally get the car on the road.

according to my book 58's came with 2 different rochester 4 gc or a carter afb assuming you have a 4 barrel if you have an carter afb keep it they are easy to work on the rochesters are also fine once set up correctly amybe it's not the carb thats at fault what exact problems are you having?? and which 4 or 2 barrel carb do you have?? if you switch to a late model carb your air cleaner won't fit and you''ll have to re-wire the starter switch that is now in the carb or i think it should be john

I put an Edelbrock 500 on my 55 Special. The 264 never performed as good as it does now. Your 58 would require a bigger carb though. If you call Edelbrock they will tell you exactly what you need including the adapter and where to get it. Got my Transdapt adapter through Summit. Just bolted it on and she fired right up. Took all of 5 minutes to adjust and I haven't touched it since. She fires up every single time, whether its hot or cold and always runs great. AND she'll typically knock down about 14 mpg.

I have a 4 barell Rockester on right now. I'm pretty sure that its the carb. Everything else that was a prob I replaced. I will have to give Edelbrock a call after work. I'll let u guy know what I find out.
    Thanks
