bought my very first oldtimer a few weeks ago,
    it´s a 66 chevy impala 327 2d ht.
would be nice to get some history about it of who the last
owner was and if anyone knows anything about this ride.

all i know is that the firm i bought it from found it in Baltimore
    and it was a lowrider..

the green **** is my work..hehe

Ya, he's way off topic, our heaps usually have solid wooden wheels and are powered by one or more oxen.;)

Funny how posts about LADYBIRD and old country stars kicking the bucket will go 3 pages, and a post about someone's new tattoo may go 4 or 5 pages, but this dude posts a pic of his 66 Impala (which looks like he's going the lowrider route with) and you tell him to go somewhere else.

Maybe I'm way out in left field here, but I'd much rather look at this dudes Impala than hear about how ****ing ladybird died, look at your new tat, or read about some gay-*** "50's custom kulture" ********.

Isn't this a message board about cars?

my thoughts exactly. i never understood the break at 1965 in the first place. i could understand 70 with the emissions stds starting to come in and the 5 mph bumpers a few years later. imo street rod covers cars pre 1955 unless it's a g***er and a guy can throw a straight axle under about anything and call it that.

that looks like a soild 66. i'm in the process of building the original 327 for a customer's 66 supersport right now. they're nice cars.

if you're into that green **** so be it but i'd have given you all the purple i pulled out of my 68 gto when i bought it.

    btw, welcome to the boards!

I'd get rid of the fuzzy stuff. I like it though, and I like 327s.

    Plastic customs and rods ****.

If it comes right down to it is he in the wrong site or are we.The guy is in a nice old car.It doesn't have 26" wheels on it and it isn't jacked up.( I hate donks)
Let him be proud of his ride.Buddy your 66 is cool.Keep up the good work!!!

  10. I think the green fuzz qualifies him for Traditional Rat Rod status...

    So I say WELCOME ABOARD!

I think the break at pre-64 was a good break to exclude muscle cars.. '64 GTO, chevelle, Mustang etc. Not that there aren't cars that can pull it off after '64, but that is the reason a lot of car shows stop at 63

the only thing remotely strict about it is the style it'll turn out in. and nobody that's been around less than three or four years knows what strict is unless they know GERM personally. astros, truspoke wires, or cragar SS's with thin whites and it isn't a damned bit out of place.

dayton 100 spoke wires or dubs, then it isn't in the right place. there ya go.

ryan set the cutoff for the cinematic at 1965 and under. i dug it because i got to drive my astro'd 65. 65 and 66 impalas have the same body except for slightly different nose and tail. there's a helluva lot more off topic stuff posted from time to time than this car especially if the fella builds it in a style appropriate to this board.

i'd suggest ditching the fuzz though!

  15. I had a 66 and I kick myself eveyday for selling it. I dig the car, don't totally love the green stuff though. But it's your car and you should do whatever you want to it

I think I'd like the fuzzy dash and deck panels better if it was white fur instead of the green. I made a new package tray insert for my '64 Olds with white fur and some '65 Olds back seat speaker grilles with side pieces added so you can't see the modern looking speakers underneath. I think that car would look great with some chrome wheels and Vogue's on it.

What are your plans for the car? Does it have lifts on it? I like it, I'd drive one of those.

Hey guys! thanks for the backup and compliments!
my first plans is to get it legal on our swedish streets,
    the jerk who inspected it
gave me 12 marks that have to be fixed before 2th of august or i'll be
damned to walk the rest of the season. the middle parking brake wire
is gone and seems quite impossible to get here, and the bodyholds in the
back are quite rusty, the one on the right side dont even exist..
and my wheelhouse is a mess of net and filler =(

anyway, i have thought about putting bellflower tips on it,
airide and a helluva freaked out paintingjob, sooner or later
and about the green fuzz, i´m gonna paint the rims in a similar colour
    and also the scallops.

About the cut off date you have to draw the line somewhere and stick to it or the reason for the HAMB's existance gets more watered down than it already is.
From there it either goes away or becomes something new.

vin = vheicle identification number it'll be the ***le and on the lf door pillar [ A Pillar] it's a stainless tag that's probably riveted on.

bmv = bureau of motor vehicles. it's the agency that ***les / registers autos in the u.s. each state has it's own one.

you should be able to find a link to them online. if you don't,drop me a line and i'll get contact info for you.

re the plastic bodies, gl*** is for vettes not real cars.

we drive the **** out of what i have running at the time. i try to keep at least one "beater of the year" running every year. this years is a 65 g/p. great car, good power, lots of room, ride and handling. i've put 3k miles on it since may. try doing that with a gl*** body on the roads in rural indiana. you'll spend as much in time fixing cracks as you did to buy the pos.

gl*** bodies are for people that sit behind their cars at a show, not people that drive them.

Of all the car's i've owned, the one i miss the most was an all original 66 Impala SS i bought from the original owners kid...
It may be a couple year's too new for the criteria of the HAMB, but that's a bas *** car none the less..
Enjoy it man, those are *****in car's.. i wish i still had mine..

Well my 65 Fairlane is in the same family as the 62-64. Actually 62 to 65 are all pretty much the same except for sheet metal. I've seen some 65's here and many 62,63,64. I think the " rule " is a loose rule here and depends on your ride. Ryan ????

I was mainly just goofing on mynameisnotpete's cut off date typo (1064  ). He has since deleted his post.

The HAMB is about traditional styled hot rods and customs, there has to be some kind of cut off date. Setting it at 1965 keeps the main focus on the traditional stuff and away from the muscle cars, pony cars, imports, etc. (GTOs, Mustangs, Camaros, even VWs can surely be cool cars, but they don't truly fit on the HAMB). Of course the lines are somewhat blurred and off topic stuff appears here, which is fine with most of us, as long as the main focus remains on traditional hot rods and customs.

66chevy's car is technically off topic, but I like it and don't mind seeing it on the HAMB. I say welcome to 66chevy and stick around.

    Hell, I own a '65 Galaxie convt.

fair enough, the pontiac board i moderate on is open to all years. the new [corparate guys] catch all sorts of hell at first.

as i said above, rods need fenders imo, after 55 fenders are kinda tough to find.

wanna buy a parts car for that galaxie? being from az you probably don't need much tho.
