Every job I had was better than the last, and the last one you had was not the top !
    A door closes,a door opens.
Take a day and go fishing with yourself,be honest and ask"what do I realy want to do the rest of my life," then get started doing it.

Don't feel bad, when I lived in east Sedalia I was fired several times.
There is some good advice on here, when a co. that I worked for closed years ago I was devastated,How could I possibly make it without them.
I went to all the places where job security was most likely,Federal and state, city and county jobs, Post office, Corp of Engineers.
Retired recently from the City Of Omaha at 59 years old, moonlight doing what I want, when I want.
I do believe in Unions and the right to organize, the person who said Union members aren't happy has never met me.
There has never been a time in my life that there was more opportunity than right now. Go out and get you some of it. Best of luck ,if you need anything I can help you with let me know.

Definately! Dont take it too bad.. More opportunities will present themselves.. I worked in machine shops since high school, while I was going through college and throughout the service. Got out of the service and worked at one good shop, Liked it a lot (Bear Machine in El Cajon CA) Damn good shop, damn good people... I was young, stupid, and decided gr*** was greener on the other side... Went to Sundstrand Aerospace (before the takeover by United Technologies) and thats where the wheels fell off!! Hahah

Worked there for years making Boeing parts, Military parts yadda yadda yadda... TOOOO MUCH BROWN NOSING and kiss ***es there for my blood! I left, went back to California (Northern this time in Chester CA) and started my own "contracting service" actually going from machine shop to machine shop (All TWO of them! Hahah) doing all their programming, and setting up CNC machines..

Later on starting my own shop in 1998. Been independant every since and love it! Its been no easy road, its even harder having your own shop, paying employees, and making sure the work flow never stops. But well worth it!! Wouldnt trade it for the world...

Keep your head up, and if you were in Colorado, I would have you stop by!

I just got squeezed out of a good interesting job of 10 years. My boss (the *****) was never satisfied with my work. (her opinion). She has low self esteem issues. So I started looking around, first try I got an offer at more money, bonus, and a location close to my wifes and my families.

So now she can't find anyone to fill my old position. :)

    It will work out.

I got fired from a job as a service writer at a GM dealer about a year and a half ago. It ****ed at the time because I was just told "It just isn't working out..." It left me with a ton of unanswered questions, and really took a toll mentally. I didn't know if I ****ed as a writer, or I just didn't handle a particular situation properly.
It has worked out wonderfully for me and my family, as we were having major daycare issues at the same time. Luckly my wife has a very good paying, but very time consuming job (10+hr. days, many trips). Long story short, I have become a stay-at-home Dad. Money isn't as free as it was, but luckly we have always lived well within our means. The time I have with my kids is great. My marriage is also better, as the stress on my wife is ALOT less. I now do all the shopping, cooking, laundry, kid running etc. My kids are both preschool age, so I have a couple of years of this, then I'll head back into the workforce. Not sure what I'll do, but I think Cuzin' Brucie has a good plan...

I've been invited to leave a couple of times myself, but it always worked out better in the long run. If you got skills to do that kind of work you'll find something, just hang in there.

I got fired from my job as a CNC machiniest about 10 years ago. I was hired as a prototype machinest and had never ran CNC but they needed more help in the production side. When the realized that I really COULDN"T run CNC they fired me. A year later I was up and running my own business, which I still own today, thanks to all of the money they had to pay me for firing me from a job I was never hired to do!
It will work out for the best.

  11. I got let go in a "corporate restructuring" where they took my job ***le and outsourced it for twice as much as they were paying me. This was just after I bought a house. I was seriously stressed. I got told I was being let go at the end the year on Nov 14th. I had a new, better paying, better everything job, by the 1st of december, starting the first of january.

    It worked out pretty good.

A friend of mine just got a job as a water plant worker...works for the city and makes more than I do after I have been at my job 22 years.....I'm thinking about a job change myself.....he found a treatment plant course at the local college and got his certificate through a mail order course....he doesn't really work hard mostly just monitoring the water..pretty boring actually...but great benefits!

The thing about public jobs though is that the sweet sweet taste of the gov't ***ty makes a lot of folks really hate the govt!
