Well I have been working on the Punk off and on when it isn't ungodly hot trying to get it together for the Rock N Rods show in Bloomington Illinois....Come check it out this weekend! www.rocknrodson66.com

I hear a lot of people bitch about having a car with no subrails and whatnot. Well try to put a floor in something that was never really a body to begin with and figure out how to attach all the pieces!

This floor I made a steel subframe for since it is going to have to support the stress of the actualtor that will lieft the bubble up and down. I used 16 guage for the Driveshaft Tunnel because it to is going to be the support for the actuator for the top and I wanted to keep it small yet strong.....There is also a hoop made from 1/2 inch steel that is integrated into the floor just in case a U joint should give out doing a big smoky burnout.

The rest of the floor is 18 guage. I punched holes in the edges and spot welded it in for an OEM appearance. I still have a lot of welding and grinding to do on the floor though....

Here are some other pictures just for sport. A couple of the Chassis. That motor looks pretty Damn impressive in there without the body on it.

I have also put a lot of the Shiny stuff on it to take it to the Rock N Rods show this weekend.

As you put stuff on you really start to figure out that some things ain't gonna work out like you had hoped.

I am going to have to do some surgery on the scoops for the brakes so they will clear the steering arms. Nothing like cutting up some brand new shiny stuff to make you sweat. Ha Ha Ha

Aaron, whenever you finish a project, i always say 2 things to myself:
    1: "I'm a lazy piece of crap"
2: "There is NO WAY plowboy can top this one..."

Well, statement number one always rings true as you have once again outdone yourself... any hints about the finished paint?

Is that a piece of rolled angle for the bubbletop frame? Can you explain that setup for me? Thanks!

Dan, the compressor is on the motor and I used the Hot heads Bracket for it. It hangs down below the frame rail and squeezes the compressor about a 1/8 inch from the motor mount and oil pan. It doesn't really look too out of place there.

The condenser is going to be mounted in the "Trunk" of the car under the gas tank. It has an Electric fan on it and will vent through the holes in the rear of the body.......It should look fairly clean. Only 2 hoses have to go into the body from the compressor that way. My buddy Joe Kern is making the gas tank for me out of aluminum and the compressor will actually bolt to the bottom of the tank. I want all the mechanicals to attach directly to the chassis so all I have to do is throw the body on it and have all the plumbing done so I don't have to crawl underneath the car to run all the lines.....

The Evaporator unit is from Vintage air and is the smallest one you can get. I am going to have to cram that in under the cowl somewhere, I haven't got that figured out yet. It will have to sweeze in between the lever for the top actuator.....interior space is at a premium on this one kiddies!!! I am going to have to run 2 6 volt optima batteries in series because there isn't really anywhere to put a fulll sized battery.

  11. I've seen the machines they use to roll angle iron, I think you need one. I know I want one!

Chaz there are basically 3 rings. There is a big one made from 2 inch square tube that is welded inside the body to give the body shape and structure this is the main supprot for the top as well.

ring 2 is a one inch square tube made from 16 guage steel. It is the supprt frame for the bubble.

ring 3 is an Aluminum angle piece. IT wraps around ring 2 and sandwiches the flange for the bubble and is screwed to ring 2.

It took me a week or so to figure out the hinge. It is all welded to the ring that holds the bubble and pivots from a perch that is welded to the main ring....

I don't know if that makes any sense or not....

I didn't roll any of the rings myself....I had a place that specializes in that sort of thing do it. I gave them dimensions down to 1/8 of an inch and they got it right, and round.

I have enough rings and bubbles to build another one if you are feeling froggy! Ha Ha Ha I thought I would screw up at least one set, but I haven't.......so far....

I don't know about Bob but I am going to Bonneville so that is a big neg-a-tory for me. Rumor has it that Drew might be there with the Zenor coupe though......

Steve, better news than that, Sweet F.A. is going back out on tour!!!
as for the kissing booth, I will only slip tounge when the inspector isn't around....keep that on the down low though. They wanted us to use a "dental dam" to perform such actions....

#1-Do you like long walks thru the cornfield?
#2-Does your airconditioned car have an ejector seat in case the latch sticks on the bubble and that A/C goes off?
Ha! -See ya at the HAMBdrags Aaron... Car is comin together well I see....
