Very cool project you got there. Here are some pics that Bishop Welding shared with me of his ex 31 Sport Coupe that he built (no longer owns it). I believe that's issue 6 of Rod & Kulture.

lrs30, good to see people working on sport coupes.

    El Chuco, thanks for posting.

But I gotta say DE SOTO's SC is the baddest one in town.

There's a San Diego "Lifters" C/C member who has a patina'd red one with a V8 flatty in it. Way cool. Dead perfect. I can't locate any pix of it but there's a bunch floating around.....anyone???

There is one sitting stripped down outside beside Vitus Rodgers garage in liberty ky it has been there for a few years now .
I would say it wouldnt be cheap even if you could buy it ???
    But who knows???
He is in his 70s but has sons who make a living dealing in used cars and/or auto salvage.
I am not vouching for them or discrediting them just be your own best judge of what you buy.

[IMG][IMG]We stand with a late model 350(looking for multi pot Intake for now) 4o? banjo juice rear an extra 54 chev Dash gauges and bezel I had laying in my stash , a Austrailian car grill shell(seen it its bitchin', but can't remember the name) 35? V8 wire's 40's ford 3 speed trans, still searching for a front axle, we have an original 28, and juice plates and drums , but we need to drop it, our buddy (fellow HAMB er Hammerdollie) makes a bad ass air bag set-up we may run, he also donated a deck lid, 30's commercial Head lights and a F-6 box and column just gotta find out how to make it work(gear reduction, longe/ shorter steering shaft, don't know, have not gotten that far yet)Oh and I'm making some killer old school lakes style headers out of 20's Ford torque tubes. Its are first Rod, we have built several Bikes, and Muscle car's, and Restored Several Corvettes with our father.... But never had the money for a rod... check out our bikes at www.myspace.com/ryanbfg ..Any pointers on this will be a great help, oh also an original 28 frame....

    lrs30 ....

Yer not gonna get to much love here on the HAMB over Sports Coupes.

Sorry to say, They are a Love~Hate kinda car ..... If yer like me & like different stuff , You'll love 'em.

But the general Hot Rod public only thinks coupes, roadster , & any model '32 are worth building.. ESPECIALLY here on te HAMB

Since i have been here i have had several nice comments on me car from some guys that know Hot Rodding.

I have also had it called a RAT ROD Pile Of Shit, all because it has no paint.

Well, I guess these larger pics may change the minds of SOME people cus this car is far from a Rat Rod ... One day i'll paint it to make the mass'es happy.

you can see some of tHe work that went into this car..... But think of this, The frame is a heavilly modified 1926 Chrysler frame..... how much woRk ya think iT took to do that job ?

Or the fact it has a De Soto hemi and the firewall isnt butcherd to get it in there. Or the only newer part on it is the Hemi Chrysler 4spd trans

This aint no fuckin 350 s/b, t~5 s-10 trans, Nova rear end, vega steering box, disc brake Street Rod in a crusty body.

This is the real deal Hot Rod.... Circa 1958 Drag Style ... giv'er take

Amen brotha' keep a preaching I'ma listnin'... Thats why I'm insisting my brother loose his chevy for something else, but it was free. I've got a neighbor who has 3 smaller displacement Hemi's as far as Hemi's go ...But he aint budging yet, but one he runs in his 40 Ford...Screw the masses,I do what I like, kinda like my bikes...I catch hell all the time,"oh you built another Iron Head",or "hey your harley emblems are on upside down","why is your 01 softail flat black, suicide shift, with no front fender, and no front brake", Question:"you mean you built it in 01, Answer: no I bought it off the showroom floor in 01",Question: Why would you do that to a new bike,Answer: "Cause I got tired of loosing it in the parking lot with the 30 other ones that look just like it...."Question: "isn't there supposed to be a muffler on the end of that 2 into 1.Answer:Buy my bike then you can FUCK it up your way....I hate the masses, don't paint it, eventually, new paint fades in time any way, you are just ahead of the curve on that...Think of it that way. I thought hotrodding was about being yourself and being creative...Sorry but you touched a nerve, can't you tell ...(as i sit here laughing like a mad man...)

Take care of your back. You are young and need it. I have had the same. L4,5,6 all together now.My neck is fussed also. I'm 54 and ate up with arthiritis in my back and neck. Not fun. Sports coupes are the best. I have a 27 coupe but would really like a sports coupe. There was a yellow one in the for sale a week or so back that was nice and Desotos is perfect. Good luck on the back. TP

I feel your pain,, yhea mine are deteriating, so fusion is on the list, being 37 ,with no disability insurance, cause no one will cover previous injuries, without costing monthly what i pay for my mortgage, and not being able to help coach my kids in sports and stuff is a drag. But they are learning to be self dependant in a good way, and both are honor students cause I have time to spend with them, without that pesky work thing getting in the way anymore, since last month.....heres a post for all you guys out there to read and think about, Sorry for getting off the Topic...
