We made the haul to PA this past weekend to attend the York US 30 Reunion and the Nostalgia Nationals held at Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday. I thought that you guys might like to see some of the awesome cars on display at York. We thrashed all last week to get the big block back together for the trip, broke my new cam in at midnight before we loaded it for the trip. Friday the 13th we attended the show at the York fairgrounds and I will attach those photos to this post. We met Bud Faubel, Pork Zartman, etc..........................what an awesome time. Then on Saturday and Sunday, we took the car to the Nostalgia Nationals to get in some track time (I will post these photos once they are back from developing, took black and whites with the 35mm). ENJOY!!!!!!!
I'm a rookie to the picture sharing stuff and didn't figure out that I could post additional photos by replying to my thread. Here are more photos.......sorry for the F-up. Second set of photos are in a seperate post called More York US 30 photos.
Just so all of the photos are in the same place, here are the ones I accidently posted in a second (seperate) post.
great pics - the only thing better than those great super stock and gas class cars under one roof, is them on the track at beaver springs - you should try to make it to raceway park, englishtown, n.j. on sun 7/29 for the old tyme drags and f/c reunion - great s/s and gasser action, and a 16-20 f/c "cacklefest", plus f/c eliminations - sunday, sunday, sunday, be there!
Big John, I'm going to try to make it to the Drag Times show in Henderson this year. I have been trying to go up for about 4 years now and just haven't made it. My friends went to Roxboro raceway for the racing last year and said it was a good time. Come on down and check it out. http://www.eastcoastdragtimeshalloffame.com/
Hey S S, Did you see the C/gas Willys coupe that was running at York in the early 60's? I think it was driven or owned by Charlie Hill. All I remember were some awsome wheel stands for the day. Got all my drag racing trophies at York. 4 class wins in I/SP and never broke 20 seconds in my 36 HP NSU sport Prinz. N B R
N B R, I've seen pictures of many of Charly Hill's cars over the years, but I don't remember seeing the Willys at the show, it may have been there I was overwhelmed with the sheer number of drivers and there chariots. Charlie Hill's "Filthy Forty" is in the pictres I posted. We stopped to buy t-shirts and the lady asked us if we wanted "Pork" Zartman (3 or 4 time National record holding driver and nationals winner) to sign them...............we all said hell yeah, pretty soon he comes out from behind the car and talking with a group of other racers and spent about 20 minutes bulshitting and telling us stories. We were talking to him and he hands me something to look at, when I looked down I see it was his NHRA ring from his 1963 Nationals win................Awesome time, awesome guy. S.S.
thats my good friends 56 gasser, real ahra/nhra record holder. it was at the hershey goodguys show. car has great history and they were planning to let the origional driver/owner make a pass sunday at the beav.

Great shots. I would have loved to have been there. Linda Vaughn continues to amaze ( how old is she ? ) Jungle Pam is racing in a different weight class. That surely was the Golden age of Drag racing .
