I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted this 57 Belair hardtop right in a front yard on a main road....I wonder how many people have stopped to ask if it's for sale.
Looks like they had a yard sale, you should stop and ask about the bird house on the fender, Then ask about the junkie old car it's sitting on.
The center grill section I believe is from someplace like JC Whitney. Its pot metal and covers up the grill bar center area. The center part is notorious for cracking and breaking. It was a cheap cover vs buying a new factory grill bar. I had one of those that was severely pitted up and tossed it on eBay just to see if it would sell. It sold, not for big bucks...I think 20 or 30.
It sits on Route 611 in Bangor, Pennsylvania. Too far from my home to go knocking to find out if it's for sale...besides I don't have any money anyway.
There's a red and white '57 Chevy Bel Air 2dr hardtop right around the corner from the job. Only reason I haven't went and knocked on the door is that it's in a bad hood.......
dude,,you are a BOULEVARDO,,,just put your bandana on and and sag yo pants DAWG! roll up like you own the mutha ****in place
similar one's been sitting near a buddy's house for 15yrs. i'm not in to those but asked as i know a couple guy's who'd want it. got a "nope not for sale, i'll retire when i do that car and sell it". i told them they better get on it before it dissappears in the yard. the lady laughed and said she tells her husband that all the time. he stomped off. mike
611 is a well traveled road ,,but not surprised there are alotta neat old cars laying around NE Pennsylvania,
I p***ed one just about like that on the P, NJ border when I went to pick up my fenders and runing boards. Local guy said he heard the old dead sons car, not for sale? CHAZ
HEY gang, I saw that car back in '71'.....it is not for sale and it is just rusting away....if one person has stopped ....a million have stopped....it is NOT for sale....dont know why.....but it is a shame to waste a car like that.....sorry, but dont waste your time trying......stan
Looks like its encased in one of those transparent barns. That or the termites ate the barn and left the car and all the junk that was piled on it. Might be one of the first non-barn barn finds.
I hate to see stuff like this. There was a 66-67 Vette on a main road in Phoenix that was parked in 68ish when the son shipped off to nam. He never came back and the car still sits in the very place he left it. There is a coffee can on a pole that says not for sale. The sun is really taking its toll on the gl***. It won't be long until it blows away.
there is a 57 sitting about 5 miles from my house....same deal....been there for a LONG time ...but is pretty much completely surface rust....was showing my kid it yesterday .....about a mile the other way from the 57 , are a couple challangers....same deal.....not for sale....and sitting low in the high weeds... friday i was showing him a 63 biscayne / belair 2dr thats sitting on a hill side ...that had had a small building fall over on the drivers side....been there for 20+ years ....all you can see now is a little bit of the roof and door post....sad sad sad....... brandon
There used to be an old 29 sport coupe sitting in the field behind this guys house. You could see it from the highway. It was just sitting there rotting away. The story is that people would stop and ask if it was for sale. The guy would tell them it belonged to his brother-in-law who lived in Texas, but if they wanted to leave $5 for the long distance phone call (this was before the advent of cell phones) and their number he would call later in the evening when the brother-in-law got home from work to see if he would want to sell it. The story goes he really had no brother-in-law in Texas. It was just a very imaginative way of making a couple of bucks.
cars that like though I can understand,,as in those cases that may be all a family has left of a loved one
Actually in Portland,Pa.....You must have been in town for the antique tractor & engine show. I was there yesterday.
Theres a '60 Vette thats been sitting in an outside storage place here in Sioux Falls for over 25 years. The gel coat is almost gone along with most of the parts that can be stolen.............but its not for sale!! Same thing for a bunch of early ford stuff sitting in a fenced in storage yard here thats just rusting away. The guy has even more stuff where he lives in Nebraska. Nothing is for sale and its just disappearing into the ground. I understand (and am guilty of) collecting and preserving stuff in a secure weatherproof building for the HAMBER's of the future but to let it get destroyed by the weather so no one will ever be able to use it...... INSANE!!! I believe you should preserve it, make it better if you can and save it for the future because this stuff will be around a long time after you're gone.. and you'll be part of the history of the car, hopefully a good version of it.
Don't stop and ask if its for sale. Stop and show a stack of cash your willing to give for it. If your asking, your ********ting, show the guy your serious. Remember the saying, "Cash Talks, ******** Walks"
I new of a 57 Olds 2 door hardtop that used to sit in Sonora CA. under a car port. Everybody tried to buy it except me, and it wasn't for sale. A guy shows up with it one day. Said he walked up, offered what it was worth, and the guy said you are the first person to offer a realistic price for it, it's yours.
It will be for sale oneday. The guy who stops and asks on that day will get it. Go ask, it might be your day.
My girl's dad has a 55, 56, and a 57. All projects that he NEVER works on. I always rib him about turning them all into taildraggers cause he'll never work on them. Maybe if I play my cards right, I'll inherit them someday!
Jon56, Flat28 has the answer, it takes a lot of luck to get these cars that are not for sale. A friend told me about an old machines shop that had several old cars and parts in the yard. My friend added that the old guy wouldn't sell anything in the yard to those dam hot rodders. I p***ed by didn't say a word about the cars ask for directions. Well we talk four a coupe of hours and out of the blue, he asked if I need any old car parts. I said I was working on a '27 Ford sedan, didn't say anything about it being a hot rod. I was the only person who could buy car parts from him. I always took my time and spend two to three hours at his place talking. Nice old guy, p***ed ten years back. Cruiser
