I would want the same bad things that others have said even if it was my friend or family member that did the theft. Our legal system is a joke, there are too many bleeding hearts that forget that punishment is supposed to be just that. OK, rant over and off my soapbox.

Glad to hear the car was found and recovered, that is the best part of this story.

DON'T worry about that!! Robbing a bank is Federal, he'll be doing some time for a while, and "BUBBA" I am sure will have his way with him!!

If my son (my only son) was a grown man and stole from his friends and robbed banks, I would dis-own him. If he's doing those things, he's probably got drug problems or personal "issues" that he didn't get from me. I realize kids grow up and don't always keep the lessons learned during their formative years, but that's the way it goes. I also know the apple doesn't usually roll far from the tree.

What I am getting increasingly sick of in society today is the whole kid-gloves approach to criminals. Let's not punish them toooo harshly...everyone has problems...let the punishment fit the crime...

Look, if you shoot someone and they live, it's attempted murder and the punishment is relatively low, compared to premeditate murder where the victim died. Why should the punishment be different just because his aim was bad? You plan a murder and the victim lives, the criminal should be punished as though he was good at his job.

Why are child molesters and ******s allowed back into society AT ALL? Don't want to kill them? Fine...wall off a closed off military base somewhere and let them set up their own little society, away from us. Within a few years, they're be people from every walk of life and every profession in there, so they'll have a nice little society. Away from us.

Someone steals your stuff, causes you a whole ton of h***le, heartbreak, expense, and you get what? Relatively close to nothing, and at that you need to spend a bunch of money with lawyers for it. How about a law saying that everything that s***bag owns is forfeited to his victims? House, TV, cars, furniture...you steal from someone, you lose what you have.

Criminals are predators, and we're their sheep--I don't care if they're killing us or just steeling our wool; we're being inconvienced by them, and they need to be taken away from us. Harshly.

When I woke up this morning, I didn't **** anybody. I didn't knock over a liquor stor, steal a car, break into a house, vandalize something, steal someone's identy or cheat on my wife. WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT THAT?! Am I a bad person for thinking others should behave the same way?

Am I a bad person for thinking that when others do those things, they should feel like they were beaten by the hand of God himself when they're punished? Am I a bad person because I want their punishment to be so harsh, and so complete, that they think "Holy ****! I'm never going to do THAT again!" While a physical beating would feel good for the victims, I'm not necessarily advocating that. What I am advocating is the harsh forfeiture of their property and freedom, followed by a long, long dose of uncomfortable rehabilitation: working on a chain gang...sorting the recycleables out of everyone's garbage (just THINK about what you throw in the trash)...making gravel at the rock quary with hammers...

Well, I guess that makes me a bad person.

    I can live with that.

im sorry i think if your going to steal someone elses hard earned stuff. cutting off a finger would be good way to break their habit..just a pinky to start i think there would be a lot less theifs, i also think this would work good for grafitti. it is extreme but it would work, just think. i have to tell ya there are persons out there that think jail is home, its not harsh enough it does not work......and the crooks know it

Wow. Obviously Steve Cab has found some real peace in his faith. I think it's a good thing to let the judgemental at***ude go. If I felt the surpressed anger expressed here, it'd give me a sour stomach. Now, I'm just speaking for me, but I give Cab mad propers for understanding the concept of letting go of the control of other people. No one ever escapes judgement in the long run. I think all religions say that it's not our place to judge. I don't like thieves, and I'd probably deal with one I personally caught in my **** pretty harshly. I guess I just wanted to say that I believe that Steve Cab isn't a soft headed fool in my opinion. I just thing he GETS the concept of Christian Charity, better than most people who take their ideas to public forums. Good for you, Cab.

Finally some good news. If you've ever had a vehicle stolen(I've had two) and recovered them, you know how this guy feels. As far as the liberal response questioning our thoughts about shooting, maiming, etc. read the previous sentence. I like Tim Brown's suggestion about the cranial warning shot. Hope the A is OK.

Guys, this thread is first and foremost a celabration of a fellow rodder's reunion with his stolen property; don't 'steal' his thunder.

Now as an added note; years back my brother built a custom VW, doing all the work himself in my grandfathers back yard with help from a couple 'close' friends. My bro had purchased a fully dressed compe***ion engine and a new set of tools, all of which were locked away in Grandma's house, all of which were stollen from there and later recovered in the appartment of these 'close friends." Even tho they were caught dead to rights, my brother never quit being a friend. He was pissed, after all, we're talking close to $20,000 worth of things bought on a grocery story empl. salery. My brother is far from a pushover, by-the-way. Cutting to the quick, His attutude towards these guys caused them so many sleepless nights and greif, the guilt consumed them. Eventually they voluntaraly paid res***ution and changed their whole natures. They were properly punished by the law and, then, were able to rebuild some bridges of trust, friendship and humanity intact.

My beliefs hold worse than eye for an eye...My beliefs say that when someone wrongs us,we do not turn the other cheek,we do in fact take revenge three fold...In case you couldn't tell,I'm not part of any conformist religion that teaches you to forgive and forget..

I could go on a long, Boring ,Pointless rant about Crime and Punishment, but I will simply say this.

The Guy got his car back!?! *****in! That almost NEVER HAPPENS!

and Carma (pun-o-riffic) can be a real *****.Typically, while in the act of ****ing others, not only do the rewards reaped ****, they are indeed, far worse than the actual crime. God,Buddha,Allah, whoever- they dislike a screwin' that wasn't deserved...and oddly enough, Life after the fact usually ****S DONKEY BALLS.

Ever known a happy, healthy Thief?....Me Neither.

I'm Christian...If someone wrongs me, and later sincerely apologizes, that's the end of it for me--it's over, and in fact, I can act like it didn't happen and move forward with the person as though it didn't happen. If they're sorry and try to make amends, that's good enough for me. I'll do whatever they need to help them through the rough spots.

God says judgement is His, but I don't think that means we're supposed to let others victimize us and just roll over and take it. Punishment on earth, by men, is a reasonable reply to bad deeds, misbehavior and criminal activity. You steal, you should lose your property. You **** or molest, I don't think it's unreasonable to take you out of society and lock you up somewhere permanently (though it's not very Christian of me, I will admit I think child molesters should be sent to their judgement with the greatest possible dispatch). Judgement by men for misdeeds against them is different than judgement by God for misdeeds against what he wants.

As a victim of theft of a vehicle I put a lot of time and work in, I'm thrilled your friend got his A back. And I think everything owned by the theif should be sold at public auction with the proceeds going to the car theft victim.

I do get the gist of what you are saying, but let me tell ya' that I have no sympathy for anyone who preys on others... My truck was stolen, (and luckily recovered) a coupla' months ago. And yeah...I'd like to kick some nuts for all the pain and suffering it caused me!!

you're probably a better man than i. my thoughts are if you start punishing the theives with serious consequences then the next one will think twice about becoming a thief. the worst part of it is, they steal a car and get away with it, the next time might be a home invasion. it may be your home and you son /wife/ daughter that they **** and kill in the process.

personally i view them as vermin no more , no less. i was raised to shoot rats and not think twice about it.

i'll agree with you on one point, god will judge them. kill them all and let him get to work.

Thats what I like to hear, I wish I had his luck whenthey stole my 65 chevelle, those *******s!!!!!

  24. I don't see running over, chopping a body part off, shooting or killing anyone for stealing a car though by any means:(

It amazes me the at***udes on this board on how much hatred you guys carry around with you when someone pisses you off ...and it wasn't even your car!
What if this person was someone you knew, a friend, or even a close family member, say maybe your own son ...would you still feel the same way about his punishment?
Revenge is not the answer my friends.[/quote]

    obviosly you dont get it.
i dont want to speak for everybody but as i see it a persons hot rod is a very personal labor of love.
it consumes huge amounts of time, money, and it takes great devotion.
that is unless you just go out and buy someone elses hard work.
so when guys get pissed and want to seek revenge on the douchebag s*** that stole somebodies hard earned ride why are you so surprised?
if someone ****d one of your family members wouldnt you feel a little violated as well?
to me stealing someones pride and joy is just about as bad.
and this loser needs to be taught a lesson.

as far as if this person was a friend...pick better friends
if he was your son...congratulations you are a failure as a parent.
i hope someone strikes this thief dead.
    maybe even your buddy jesus.
and in case you didnt notice this website is about the love of hot rods not preaching religious ideologies.
maybe we can all sit in a drum circle and sing *** by ya.:D

George-- great news our neighbor got his car back. however, my wife saw the cops dusting prints at the house next door to his-- so hopefully more thieving isnt going on.

Now, onto the Steve Cab / anti-anger subject:

    1) Im embarrased to say that when i was a kid, I was a thief. I stole car parts (a**** other things) and did a bunch of bad ****.

    2) I've had **** stolen from me (recently too,) and my own guilt makes me feel like i have bad karma and deserved it as payback for my past bad. I think i'll always feel guilty-- especially about the car stuff (because i know how much i love my cars.)

    3) Im glad nobody killed me, as I wouldnt have had the chance to mellow and grown into the decent person i think i am. That said, if i got caught back then, beat up, kicked in the nuts, or my hand cut off-- im sure that i would have thought twice about stealing.

Im not proud of what i was, and i have to say that i cant stand thieves...

Coupe-de-Cab, you're the voice of wisdom. Sometimes I think people here get a bit carried away by their anger when it touches something they love (like their cars). As much as we love our cars, they're just objects. The life of a man on the other hand is priceless.

Glad to hear this car was recovered!
