yep, it'd make a purty good parts car, got too many doors for anything else.

i think you could stick a 40mm AA gun in that thing, it's big enough and MIGHT have its own airspace.

It started in 1964 but with that many doors took until 1968 to finish !

    Greg,
(There's all kinds of opportunities with what I'm about to say so I ask everyone to, please, show some restraint.)
My wife once told me of a car like that which was used in this area to run people from town to town. The called the one here the "Beaver Bus." (Here's where the jokes go.) I guess they were like depot
hacks or something. That might evplain the big ol' roof racks. Could building something like that have actually been cheaper than buying a bus back in the day???

  16. That's an airport limosine. Today, they use passenger vans for the same thing, but until the 1970s you didn't really have the large van of today, so they had coachbuilders stretch these cars out. They're fairly rare cars, like hearses and ambulances. I've seen photos of one based on a '50 Chevy Styline - they were made for a long time.

Appears to be a '67-'68, would have a 400 or 428 most likely.

  17. Is that in Russell, KS? I'd love to get that car. We have 4 kids and my wife is always trying to get more.

It isn't a 64, it looks a lot like our old 1969 Pontiac Safari station wagon. Except ours was green and had that wonderful wood-paneling wallpaper on it. And of course, only had 4 doors.

  25. Even with just 8 doors would need some serious iron in the frame!

It's a '68, and the engine most likely is a 400. I tried to buy one just like it from an old man at the Chickasha, OK, swap meet a coupla years ago. He had removed all seats except the first two and filled that space from floor to ceiling with crap.

Unfortunately, he wanted $5K for it, and I sure didn't want it that bad.

We had one when I was growing up. My dad painted the doghouse and first 4 doors, then had to turn it around and paint the back half. It was great for parades and tailgating at football games. I remember fitting all 31 kids from my 4th grade class in it.

He sold it before I got my license...probably a good move by him...

Here in the PNW those kinds of rigs are used to haul logging crews out to the woods. We call them "crummys" for some reason.
