Larry, This isn't a matter of live and learn is it? I ***ume you mean the next one will be built for less than an executive Florida retirement condominium.  :D

    Frank

BTW, I've already saved up $17.46 to buy your 3w. Sure feels good when your almost to your goal:rolleyes: :)

Oh Yea, to stick to the current subject that '34 is perfect, don't change a thing.

  5. I agree, and great little motor, hard to tell from that angle, but it looks to be an early block, even(no side motor mounts).

Welcome 18n57! As you can see from my handle, I like 33s and 34s myself. Yours is a period perfect ride and is now my desktop wallpaper. My first encounter with a hot rod was a 32 3W channeled, fenderless and with a late 50s Corvette engine. I dreamed about that car for years. I like them all but there is something special about a hot rod 34 5W. It has the looks and style. It must be a joy to drive.

I just acquired a 34 5W myself and it needs lots and lots of work. It will get a turn after the other one is done. I am kind of jealous of your's though. It appears to be a really solid car. Did you have to do patch panel, rockers, etc.?

If you want to take a look at my projects follow my link from my profile page and you can see my two 34s.

This is a slow response cuz I'm kinda slow. Used aS-10(T5) trans and a 9" ford rear with 3:50 gear. So far trans is okay, it has the 4.03:1 low gear, but with low torque 265 and 31" tall tires it is fine. Not sure trans will hold up to banzai, 5k side-stepping clutch action.......but then maybe again

  27. Great car. He seems to have an eye on all the little details. The engine alone, generator, fuel filter, Rochester 4GC, original choke set up....and chevys are really not my cup of tea.
One of the nicest coupes, with a cool less is more at***ude.

Steve, Do you have any pictures of your old FED or your pickup? Then you can show them that you can do better than this old wreck! Ha :D

34s KILL. I like leaving the apron on the sides below that perfect little orange motor. The firewall on 34s sometimes cause a hoodless car to look unfinished. You sure got it right.
