I ordered a gauge dash panel from EELCO about last February. It came in and the center hole does not fit any speedo or tach on the market so I sent it back. I was told by a guy named Marty that if I hadn't of sent the panel back, they would never of known they were made wrong. This was after he told me they had already shipped me a new one. The next time I call he says that they have to retool the plant machinery and remake the panels would ship in a week or so. Here it is July 24 and nothing. I called him yesterday and got a girl on the phone who couldn't tell me anything and would put a note on Marty's desk to call me. So far, nothing. My dash has been put on hold for 3-4 months now because of these assholes and still not even a phone call. Has anyone else had this problem with EELCO? It's a shame because they do have some nice stuff but this is ridiculous.

I've bought stuff from Marty...in person and online (E-Bay)....when there was a problem he took care of it......
Getting ahold of him at this time of year may be tough, as it's show season, still not an excuse though, ESP. since Feb!!!
You may be better off getting a refund at this point......

  5. That Eelco panel isn't the only good looking panel on the market. You shouldn't have to beg someone to send you the part they sold & you paid for.

If someone screwed me around for months I'd keep after them until they refunded my $$ but I damn sure wouldn't run their gauge panel after all the trouble.

Who are the guys in Texas doing such nice panels? "Knecht" or something like that. They were a HAMB sponsor at one time. Treat yourself to one of those...

    Aman,
I think you are missing what they are saying. Yes...there have been many complaints with this company over the years. Most of the threads on this subject usually get nothing but trash posts on them.

I have purchased stuff from when the company was NorthWest Speed Equipment and didn't have any problems.....but many other Hamb'ers did.

The guy who owns it (Marty), will take care of you, it is just a matter of shakin him down on the phone. I would call and explain your delema....

    Aman,

their refering to the fact that if you had done a search you would see plenty of others have posted similar things about Marty. I deal with him and havent had a problem, I have had to wait for some items, and have had to make phone calls to prod them into action and I'm in Australia so not as easy for me as you.

I would suggest that if your not happy ( and paid with a CC) that you just phone them and ask that its send out asap, or your money returned, OR, your going to recall your money on the CC.

Sorry to hear your project is being held up and hope you have a good outcome. After all, if it was easy to build these cars, everyone would drive one.

    cheers.

Aman - if you can, or if you used a credit card, get a refund. Best way to handle it IMO. PM me, I will help any I can. Yes others have had problems. Try a seach on the HAMB here for Marty Lackner, NW Speed, EELCO etc. Also there's a website I think is called www.ripoffreport.com do a search for his name there. It's a shame, as he seems a nice fella, and the products look decent. Hope this helps. :)

  13. I think you're out of luck with the credit card after 60 days. That is the normal time limit for resolution. Just keep after Marty for a refund and move on unless you're set on that panel.

Thanks guys, I did a search first and seems they mostly talked about parts, etc. I didn't mean to be redundant and didn't want to fry a company without good cause. I try to give companies the benefit of the doubt cuz things happen. Now I know the rest of the story. Sounds like I'm fucked. Love this hot rod stuff.

Yea, you must be new here and I can see just fine.
Like the others said, do a search on Northwest Speed and you'll see what I'm talking about, then you'll be able to shut the fuck up and move on!
    MEGA PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!

  17. Aman-

I have some NOS Eelco gauge panels I got in a purchase of an old speed shop. These are from 1959 and fit Stewart Warner Gauges (2-1/8" and larger). Send me a PM and I can try to hookup with one of my panels I held back for my project.

My dad bought some pieces of a Model A Roadster from him through E-bay, seemed like a nice guy to me. Even dropped the stuff off in fresno on his way to the LA roadster show.

Aman, good luck with your part/refund. I hope you didn't pay a lot. Yes,he's got good looking stuff, but the HAMB is rife with stories about stuff not fitting, not running, only promises being delivered on time, etc. Some of the surfers here look for NW Speed/Eelco threads like they do for Nigerian hotrod buyers, with the same amount of glee.

I hope it works out for you, but I'd start looking elsewhere so this doesn't hold up your project.

No matter what he calls his company or how many time he moves his shop, 'lil Marty is a douche. Stay away. Burning your money is faster and less frustrating. I learned the hard way.

  25. Me too, still waiting for a Cad tri power I sent a $150 deposit on 3 years ago. Called a bijillion times but he is never available, screens all his calls I guess. Be like us and just lick your wounds and look elsewhere, much less grief!! A million complaints about him everywhere. Just keeps changing his business and location. Have never met anyone who has acually seen him. Used to be on the HAMB but I think he was banned from here.

Thanks again guys, I talked to the lady who answers the phone and turns out she's Marty's wife. She said she talked to Marty and the panel is shipping this Friday, Priority Mail, but from what I'm seeing hear, that's just another lie. I think I'll contact the guy above with the panel in hand. If for some reason I actually get the panel, I'll come back on and let you know in order to be fair to the guy.

I understand your pain & it really sucks this guy has taken an old upstanding speed equipment name & dragged it thru the mud.

But i need to ask some the Guys here that left you some less than helpfull answers.

How many of you Guys actually go to your computer and do a WEB SEARCH for every company you deal with to find out if they are an upstanding company or a bunch of Chicken Fuckers ?

Why cant people just help this guy out without all the ' YOU DIDNT DO A WORLD WIDE COMPUTER SEARCH, CALL HIS MOM, ASK HIS KID & PUT JIM ROCKFORD ON THE CASE TO SEE IF THIS COMPANY IS WORTH BUYING FROM'

I guess this is why i actually would rather spend the time to locate REAL ORIGINAL parts...... At least i know ill have to wait.

    And...

    I'm not new here...

I've skimmed the NW Speed posts when they come up.

I had no idea EELCO and NW Speed were the same thing. Good to know.

    Lighten up.

Rather than trashing the guy for asking... "Do a search for NW Speed..." Might have been nice.

Also I just searched for EELCO and came up with nothing that jumped out as someone having a problem with that particular company.

Mayby YOU should do a search before you bust on folks...

Yep sad to see such a good name tarnished.

Marty has been BANDED from the HAMB for quite a while.

I had one dealing with him, and it was marginal at best. I did end up with the part in the end. But still, a hassle.

OK, I promised to come back on here and let you know what the outcome of this would be so here it is. Some one from here forwarded this thread to Marty(I didn't appreciate that) and he called me last Thursday and said he didn't want to mess with it anymore and would refund my money. I told him I was tired of it too and that would be find. He went on to tell me that the HAMB was nothing but a bunch of manbee pandee sock knitters(or something like that, you get the idea) and that he didn't give a shit what we thought about him. It's really too bad that this happened like this but, I will say that the man was true to his word about the refund. It arrived today via certified mail and I want to thank him for that. I really wanted the panel but anyway, let's let this die here. I don't want to make any enemies however, I did want to let you know that it ended respectfully. Over and out
