It's a '48. It's in the San Diego area. Just wondering if there's anyone who knows anything at all about it. Thanks.
Hmmm wonder whats going on with the side gl***? May be still under construction. I'm building one now and am planning on putting 1 piece replacements in each opening. Would be cool to have roll ups in each one.....
So I guess changing doors would be the only way to fix that our could a person swap the window parts?
I made a one peice gl*** kit for my 51 doors...really easy, I used jeep grand wagoneer power ***emblies and universal window channel (and hid the switches...yeah I know....the stock regulators were rusted solid) grand total....$18
hey james....hows it going....wow what a nice suburban!!! you thinking about getting it? did you sell your buick yet? that suburban sure would be one super nice ride, the whole family could enjoy. are you going to the h.a.m.b.drags? i'm trying to get things finished up at this house so i can go. reggie
I would just swap doors. Hell, they're cheap enough. email my friend Joe, mothertruckeraz@aol.com for a rust free Arizona set. Don't forget the window trim, inside and outside!
Well, I may be doing some horse trading....we'll see. Hamb Drag, no, I'm out of vacation time. Hope to see you at something localy if you'll come out sometime......
Seats? Seats for these things are ****** expensive. I'm using a pickup truck seat for the rear of mine. Last pair of rear seats I saw went for over $1100. The third seat is the hardest, over the years people removed them and they got lost, etc... Joe and I knew a guy who was considering tooling up some new frames based on the original designs. I don't know what happened there...........
Yea I can help. Although this info cost me a $100.00 I'll p*** it on for the mere cost of a case of beer.... I contacted a guy in San Diego to do a inspection for me. Here's what he p***ed on to me. 1) The 'Burb was recently painted. It has pin holes in the bottom of the rockers and fenders. The lower section between the rear fenders and bumper is rusted away in the lower 1-1.5 inch section. 2) The lower sections are thin or altogether missing the new paint. Maybe because it sits low and the painter failed to get low enough. 3) All gl*** needs replaced and rubber also. 4) Interior is bare. 5) Dash is empty and no glovebox door. 6) Motor and transmission seems to be good. 7) Large hole in floor with steel rod for the shifter. Linkage mounted backwards as park is all the way back and low is all the way forward. 8) Wiring must be completly redone. 9) No A/C. 10) He test drove but only for a block or so as the brakes wouldn't stop the vehicle properly. 11) Hood fitment to the front fenders is poor and needs adjusting. 12) Smoothed fibergl*** firewall has large amounts of black (roof sealent) goo oozing out and running down on the forward floorpans. I have a 'Burb that is about 6 months from finish and I thought about buying this one just to have a driver in the meantime. After getting the report I figured I'd invest the money in the one I have to speed it up a little. If I can help you futher let me know.....................
