I miss my friends. The news about Brother Ray is heartbreaking to say the least. He's gone to see his family, Ronnie D., Carl, Darren, Johnny. I first met Ray at Hemsby , the first time High Noon was Booked there. Ray and the Hardrock Goners were on the bill also and man did they ever rock the joint! Ray was like an old friend I'd never met. We talked about good music, drank snake bites and how we were both blown away that anybody gave a hang about the music our bands played. It was great. Ray was insane in a very good way. He gave his all to everything he did from music to living life. I will miss that crazy canuck. We love you Ray. Saint Pete open the gates, R.D. give the band the down beat. Bother Ray make your way to the band stand and...... Swing Brother Swing. Shaun Young 04/16/04

[/ QUOTE ] That was the 1st time I saw him as well, it was a great weekend. Saw him a couple of more times in London, but last month here in San Francisco when he played with Big Sandy, he was at the 'top of his game'. Just nice to see him before he left us to join Ronnie Dawson et al. RIP.
No way! When? Gawd I loved that Canuck. I can't believe I'll never get to see him play again, this truly ****s.
I sat and drank a couple beers with him one day at Greenbay, he was telling me stories about the painting and sculpture scene in canada back in the 70's and early 80's. I told him i heard his song in that Lincon Continental commercial... he got a big old smile.. i will remember that look on his face as long as i live. He enjoyed making music, you could just tell.
i missed the last show in S.F. with BIG SANDWICH...i was thinkin' of goin' just to see R.C. now i'm kickin' myself in the ***... i'm not too into the music that a lot of my peers here(in the no buck, low buck, red rim hoopdie-billy car thing) are... but i caught him a number of years back... damn what a show, it was a small club and we chatted briefly after his set... this is one of those lessons again to see, talk to, make right with folks 'cause life is too short. nic
Was at that Hemsby too....he tore the place apart, then again in Bristol must have been around '91 i think! gonna play some this weekend in his honour......LOUD!
Wow...that caught me off guard! I remember the first time I met Ray was at the Juke Joint in Springfield, MO. I walked in and there was a longhair band setting up on the stage (opening for Ray) and he looked at me and said, "Whew, for a minute there I thought I was here on the wrong night." You'll be missed Ray....
I didn't here what happened? I am kind of out of the loop. How did he p***? Sorry for your loss Bro. It's been a hard couple of years.....
Ahh man, ......I saw him a couple of times at the Grand Emporium in KC and he was the nicest guy. I guess he is playing the tunes in the big sky above......... Chris Nelson Kansas
One of the drawbacks of having a bunch of friends... you sometimes have to live through the loss of them. You are all my brothers... Let's get through what seems to be a tough period for HAMB losses and have some good times ahead... stay safe... HC
Man! I was just listening to a tape I made of Ray at a festival in Yosemite, where he STOLE the show! He played here in SO Cali recently and I didn't go. There's a lesson here for me. Always support live music, it keeps it going and you just never know you just never know.

An update on Ray's p***ing last week... I just read the following on www.hickswithsticks.com Its a Bay Area site dedicated to Roots & Americana Music. As HWS News was going to press we received word that popular Vancouver twanger Ray Condo, who's made many trips to the Bay Area, has p***ed away from a sudden heart attack. Ray, a heavy drinker, smoker and a heck of a musician, had had a mild attack in SF, and SF General which treated him only agreed to release him if he would see a doctor in Vancouver, which he didn't. RIP. Dave
Couldn't believe it when I heard. My heart goes out to all the family & friends....he was a great guy. I saw him several times & had the honour of hanging out with him at The Railway, & Marine Club. There was a wake held at the Railway this last saturday between 4-8. RIP Ray
